Snowmass’ July Event Lineup Features Movies, Yoga, Artisans, 5K’s, and Much More

New Events Include Movies Under the Stars, Après Artisan Market, a Screening of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Rock for a Reason, and a Silent Disco Party

Snowmass Village, Colo., (June 20, 2019) – July in Snowmass features events to suit ages and adventurers of all types. New to the lineup for 2019 is the Friday Afternoon Club and Artisan Market (July 5-August 23); Movies Under the Stars (July 6 & July 27); a special movie screening on the July 12 Fridays on the Mall – Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, presented by Aspen Film and the Town of Snowmass Village; Rock for a Reason (July 13); and a Silent Disco, presented by Yoga on the Mountain (July 20).

 

“We are thrilled to welcome so many new events to Snowmass in July,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “Not to mention, our returning favorites like the July 4th Community Celebration and Yoga on the Mountain are set to be better than ever this summer.”

 

Snowmass June Event Lineup: 

 

July 4th Community Celebration & Concert – July 4: Guests and visitors alike are invited to Snowmass to celebrate the evening of the Fourth of July. The celebration coincides with the Snowmass Free Concert Series, featuring Here Come the Mummies, and includes free sweet treats, Snowmass S’mores, Bitsy Photo Booth, glow in the dark goodies, patriotic giveaways, and more. Happy Birthday America!

NEW – Friday Afternoon Club and Artisan Market – July 5 – August 23 (except July 19): The Friday Afternoon Club and Artisan Market in Snowmass Base Village showcases a variety of locally owned businesses selling specialty food items, clothing, handcrafted goods, art, jewelry, accessories, and Colorado-sourced vegetables.

 

NEW – Movies Under The Stars – July 6 & July 27: In partnership with Aspen Film, Movies Under the Stars showcases family-friendly screenings featuring movies from the 1970’s and 80’s, on The Rink in Snowmass Base Village. Free popcorn is provided, and viewers are encouraged to bring blankets or low-profile chairs, a picnic and non-alcoholic beverages. Adult beverages and takeout dinners are available for purchase at Snowmass Base Village restaurants, to be enjoyed on and around The Rink.

SPECIAL – Fridays on the MallSTAR WARS: Episode IV A NEW HOPE – July 12: A special addition to Fridays on the Mall, Aspen Film and the Town of Snowmass Village present a free screening of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope (1977, directed by George Lucas). The screening begins at dusk on Fanny Hill and is free to the public. Nineteen years after the formation of the Empire, Luke Skywalker is thrust into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan begins Luke’s Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader Princess Leia from the clutches of the evil Empire.

Audi Power of Four Trail Run – July 13: Choose from a 50K, 25K, or 10K endurance challenge during this popular trail running event. The Audi Power of Four Trail Run’s signature race is a 50K Ultra, which is part of the Skyrunner USA Series. The race covers the four Aspen Snowmass mountains utilizing a mix of singletrack and dirt roads. Runners can also choose from a 25K race along the Government Trail, covering Buttermilk and Snowmass or a 10K at Snowmass Ski Area.

NEW – Rock for a Reason – July 13: Local nonprofits have the opportunity to advocate for their unique causes on the slopes of Fanny Hill during this Snowmass Free Concert Series bonus Saturday featuring The Greatest Hits on Earth – Live! ® presents Spectrum of Soul™ Featuring Skip Martin formerly of Kool & The Gang ™ & Special Guest(s). Take advantage of opportunities to get involved, sign up to volunteer, become a member, make a donation, purchase cool swag, and find out more details on what local non-profits have to offer. Non-profits in attendance include Challenge Aspen, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Mountain Rescue, and many more.

Yoga on the Mountain – July 19-21: The third annual Yoga on the Mountain, presented by Power Yoga Retreats, returns to Snowmass for a three-day festival celebrating yoga, music, and nature. The weekend schedule includes restorative yoga classes, advanced asana workshops, and focused sessions on mudras, mantras, bandhas and breath work – all mixed with meditation, hiking, and discussions.

5K on the Mountain – July 20: The Colorado Brewery Running Series, a Denver based series, returns to Snowmass for the second year of trail running fun. The event consists of a 5k trail run starting and ending on the Snowmass Mall, followed by a post beer party at the New Belgium Ranger Station.

NEW – Silent Disco Presented by Yoga on the Mountain – July 20: Head to Snowmass Base Village on Saturday, July 20 from 7:30pm-11:30pm for the first ever Silent Disco in Snowmass presented by Yoga on the Mountain and Lululemon. Dance the night away with multiple channels of music, beverages, and incredibly scenic views. This event is open to the public for $25 and is included in Yoga on the Mountain Festival’s Weekend Pass & Saturday Pass. 

Snowmass Doubles Volleyball – July 25-28: Volleyball of the Rockies brings the Snowmass Doubles Volleyball Tournament back to Snowmass again this summer. Volleyball of the Rockies produces some of the largest volleyball tournaments in the state, and this boutique mountain tournament features sand and grass courts at Snowmass Town Park. Spectators are welcome.

On-going July Events

 

Farm-to-Table Tuesdays & Bonus Bike Park Nights – July 2- August 13: Snowmass is the place to be on Tuesday nights. Beginning July 2, lift-served biking continues until dusk on Tuesday evenings. Purchase a Late Arrival ticket for $34 and ride from 2:00pm until dusk. For non-bikers (or once finished biking) guests can take the Elk Camp Gondola to the Elk Camp Restaurant and enjoy an a la cart dinner inspired by the farm-to-table movement with locally sourced ingredients. A full cash bar, outdoor family activities, and live music round out the evening.

Snowmass Rodeo – Wednesdays, July 3-August 21: The Snowmass Rodeo celebrates 46 years of operations this summer, making it one of the longest continuously running rodeos in Colorado. The Snowmass Rodeo takes place on Wednesdays at 7:00pm, rain or shine, throughout the summer.

 

Snowmass Free Concert Series – Thursdays, July 4-August 22: On 11 consecutive Thursdays and two bonus Saturdays (June 8 and July 13) throughout the summer, Snowmass hosts a weekly free concert series on Fanny Hill, showcasing genres of music ranging from reggae, to soul, to funk, to rock. 2019 marks the 28th year of the Snowmass Free Concert Series.

 

Fridays on the Mall & Friday Afternoon Club and Artisan Market – Fridays, July 5-Augut 23): Kick off the weekend on Fridays in Snowmass! Fridays on the Mall features live music from local bands and Aspen Music Festival & School musicians, extended business hours, local artisans, food & drink specials, and more. The Après Artisan Market in Snowmass Base Village showcases a variety of locally owned businesses selling specialty food items, clothing, handcrafted goods, art, jewelry, accessories, and Colorado-sourced vegetables.
