Snowmass Celebrates Music, Wine, Motorists — and More — in September

September Features New Vintage Car Race, the 42nd Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival, New Fall Festival - Septemberfest, and Much More

Snowmass, Colo., (August 25, 2017) – September in Snowmass features two new events for 2017, Septemberfest and the Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race. September also features the return of favorites including the JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, the 42nd Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival, and many more.

“Fall in Snowmass is such a special time,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “With the changing fall foliage throughout the month, each of our September events casts a slightly different view on the natural beauty of Snowmass. Fall in Snowmass is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.”

 

Snowmass September Event Lineup:

JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience – September 1-3: The JAS Labor Day Experience features three days of world-class music, set amidst the stunning backdrop of Snowmass Village. The 2017 lineup includes Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, The Roots, and many more. In addition to music on the main stage, the JAS Village provides food and beverage vendors, kid’s activities, and much more. Snowmass Balloon Festival – September 8-10: The 42nd Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival fills the sky with one of the highest-altitude hot air balloon events in the country. Over the course of three days, 30+ pilots compete in challenges and races. Spectators take in the colorful sights of the balloons floating up and down the Valley, making for great photo opportunities. All Snowmass Balloon Festival events are free and open to all ages. All daytime events take place at Snowmass Town Park, with free parking in the Town Park Station lot. Snowmass Septemberfest – September 9: A new event for fall, Septemberfest brings together the Snowmass community in celebration of all things harvest from 4:00pm-7:00pm on September 9th. Located in Snowmass Base Village, the event features wine & sake tastings, food tastings from local restaurants, music, kids’ activities, and local vendors & artisans. The event also includes a silent auction and raffle to support Bridging Bionics’ mission to bridge mobility with bionic technology. Snowmass Balloon Festival Balloon Glow + ‘90’s Night Glow Show – September 9: In conjunction with the 42nd Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival and Septemberfest, the 2017 Balloon Glow + Glow Show brings a special night of celebration and fun to Snowmass with a 90’s themed evening. Live performers and a DJ kick off the evening at 7:15pm, followed by a 90’s themed concert at 8:00pm. Watch as balloons light up the night throughout the festivities. 90’s attire is encouraged. Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race – September 14: For the first time in Colorado in 19 years, the sights and sounds of high-octane racing come alive on the streets of Snowmass Village. Kicking off the Motoring Classic Weekend, guests can watch as vintage Corvettes, BMWs, Porsches, Mustangs, and formula race cars from the 1960s and 1970s fly by during this exhilarating new event. The race begins at 9:00am and ends at approximately 5:00pm. Racers travel up Snowmelt Road / Lower Carriage Way, around the RFTA Bus Depot and down Brush Creek Road to the roundabout, hitting top speeds of 80 miles per hour. Guests are invited to join Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing for an After-Race Party at Base Camp Bar & Grill. The party starts at 6:00pm with live music from 6:30pm until 9:30pm by the Billy Byrd Band. Cost for the party is $60. Viewing for the Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race is free and open to the public. The Motoring Classic – September 14-17: Vehicles of all shapes and sizes gather in Snowmass for an action-packed weekend featuring all things auto. With the Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race kicking off the festivities on Thursday, September 14th, the weekend showcases a car show on Saturday from 1:30pm-5:00pm at Town Park Softball Field featuring Porsche, Ferrari, Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing, BMW, Audi, Cobra, Viper, and more. Snowmass Wine Festival – September 15-16: Experience a weekend of culinary delights at the Snowmass Wine Festival, hosted by Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. Friday, September 15th features a four-course, “California Dreamin’” wine dinner at the Viceroy Snowmass, prepared by Executive Chef Will Nolan. The dinner showcases five wines from different American Viticultural Areas in California. The dinner starts at 6:30pm and is $135 per person. On Saturday, September 16th, guests enjoy a Grand Tasting from 1:30pm-5:00pm, where they can sample a variety of wines and cuisine from some of the Valley’s best-known restaurants. The Grand Tasting, which takes place outdoors adjacent to the Snowmass Recreation Center, also includes a silent auction featuring items from local shops and restaurants, acclaimed wines, and fine artwork. Golden Leaf Half Marathon – September 23: On September 23rd, watch as runners from around the country take to the trails for a 13.1 mile half marathon. Starting in Snowmass Village at 8:30am, runners traverse from Snowmass Village to Aspen, surrounded by the fall colors. The Golden Leaf Half Marathon has been chosen by Trail Runner Magazine as one of “America’s 14 most scenic races”. Visit http://www.goldenleafrace.com/ for more information.

CU in Snowmass Collegiate Bike Race – September 23-24: Watch talented male and female collegiate racers compete in Short-track, a new Enduro course, Downhill and Cross-Country events on Snowmass Mountain.
