Fall Features Festive Events and Adventures in Snowmass, CO

Event Highlights Include the 43rd Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival, Snowmass Wine Festival, Septemberfest & Cidermass, The Motoring Classic Weekend, and More

Snowmass Village, Colo., (August 23, 2018) – Fall showcases the natural beauty of Snowmass, with glorious gold aspen trees and a vast event lineup. September in Snowmass features a new event, Cidermass, in addition to the return of local favorites like Septemberfest, the Snowmass Balloon Festival, JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, and more.

 

“Fall in Snowmass is simply stunning,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “Our September event lineup really highlights the natural beauty of Snowmass – the Snowmass Balloon Festival, returning for its 43rd year, not to mention the Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race, back for its second year, really showcase Snowmass’ gorgeous fall foliage. September is increasingly becoming one of the most popular months for visitors and our 2018 event lineup really complements that.”

 

September Event Lineup:

 

JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience – August 31-September 2: JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, a world-class music festival, set amidst the stunning backdrop of Snowmass Village, returns to Snowmass Town Park with headliners including Zac Brown Band, Lionel Richie, Jack Johnson, Fitz and the Tantrums, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Gary Clark Jr., and more. One of the hottest music festivals in Colorado, tickets are selling quickly!

 

Snowmass Balloon Festival – September 7-9: The 43rd Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival, a long standing Rocky Mountain tradition, fills the sky with eclectic balloons, as 30 pilots launch their hot air balloons into the air at sunrise, daily at 7:00am. The Night Glow Show on Saturday evening, themed Glow Show Decades, provides an up-close-and-personal experience to these mega balloons. Guests can chat with the balloon pilots, dance to the beat of a decade themed performance, and watch as the balloons light up the sky.

 

Cidermass – September 8: Cidermass, a new hard cider festival, debuts in a celebration of all things fall. The festival features hard cider tastings from vendors from all over the country including Stowe Cider, Anna’s Cider, Snow Capped Cider, Big B’s Hard Cider, and many more on the Snowmass Village Mall. Tastings occur from 1:00pm-4:00pm, after the Snowmass Balloon Festival.

 

Septemberfest – September 8: The second annual Septemberfest returns to Base Village with wine and sake tastings, local food vendors, children’s activities, music, and local vendors and artisans from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Septemberfest is free and open to all ages, with donations benefiting local nonprofit, Challenge Aspen. The event culminates with the Glow Show, part of the Snowmass Balloon Festival.

 

Snowmass Wine Festival – September 14-15: A long standing summer tradition, the Snowmass Wine Festival features a weekend of wine, wine tasting, and wine-pairing dinners, hosted by Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. Friday evening features a four course, “Northwest Passage” wine pairing dinner at the Viceroy Snowmass, featuring wines from Oregon and Washington State and a live auction. Saturday features a three-hour grand tasting event with wines from all over the world, bites from some of the Roaring Fork Valley’s best known restaurants, a silent auction, and music by DJ Boogie Down Light & Sound. The Snowmass Wine Festival is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Snowmass Village and all funds raised on Saturday will be donated to various nonprofits as well as Basalt High School Senior scholarships. For tickets and information, please click here.

 

The Motoring Classic – September 15:

The Motoring Classic returns to Snowmass for an auto show from 12:30-4:00pm on Saturday, September 15. Guests can get up close and personal with cars of all shapes, sizes, and years. Later that evening, join the cars and their drivers in Base Village for The Motoring Classic BBQ Extravaganza, featuring live music, casino games, and more. Car clubs in attendance include Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Audi, Corvette, and Viper.

 

Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race – September 16-17: Back for its second year, the Aspen Snowmass Vintage Car Race returns to the streets of Snowmass on Sunday, September 16th and Monday, September 17th. Presented by Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing, the two-day race includes over 120 vintage cars from the 1960’s and 1970’s, all competing for glory on the streets of Snowmass Village. On Sunday at 6:00pm, join Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing for a Paddock Party, complete with food, music, and more. Car clubs in attendance include Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Audi, Cobra and Viper. This high octane event is one not to be missed!

 

CU in Snowmass Collegiate MTB Races – September 22-23: The University of Colorado will once again take over Snowmass with male and female collegiate racers competing in short-track, downhill, cross-country, and enduro races. All events are free to spectators.

 

Golden Leaf Half Marathon Trail Run – September 22: Watch as runners from around the country take to the trails for a 13.1 mile half marathon. Starting in Snowmass Village at 8:30am, runners traverse from Snowmass Village to Aspen, surrounded by the fall colors. The Golden Leaf Half Marathon has been chosen by Trail Runner Magazine as one of “America’s 14 most scenic races”.
