Explore the beauty and vastness of Snowmass on snowshoes. Rent gear from one of our many sports retailers and venture out on Snowmass trails on your own, or join a guided tour led by Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES).
ACES Snowshoe Tours
From 11am – 1pm come to the top of Elk Camp Gondola to explore spruce and fir forests along a babbling creek in the Snowmass Ski Area. The ACES Snowshoe Tour is a two-hour guided snowshoe tour with an ACES naturalist. Switch things up for a different on-mountain activity and swap your skis and snowboard for snowshoes. Learn about Rocky Mountain winter ecology, animals, and more as you discover the area and enjoy the silence of a snow-covered forest.

ACES Guided Treks – Free
Join ACES (Aspen Center for Environmental Studies) for a two hour long guided tour through the natural expanse of Snowmass. Starting at the Ticket Pavilion on the Snowmass Mall, guests can snowshoe, hike, or use stabilizers to explore along the Nature and Sleighride Trails, keeping an eye out for winter creatures and learning about mountain habitats and ecology, Snowmass history, and more. Hikes begin at 10am and 1pm, daily from December 14-April 16. Free. Snowshoes and stabilizers provided.

Snowmass Cross Country Center
Meandering across pristine winter meadows and into hushed pine forests and aspen groves, this full-service ski and snowshoe center is at the heart of the Nordic trail system. Located on the Snowmass Club Golf Course, the track is perfect for classic nordic, skate skiing, snowshoeing or a winter walk in the sun.
Trail access is free!
