Top Kids’ Winter Activities

In Snowmass, we’re a family destination with kid-friendly activities of all kinds available daily, and special kid-centric events throughout the winter. Here’s a list of all the best activities kids can take advantage of while visiting Snowmass: 

Off Mountain 

Snowmass Village Recreation Center:

  • Splash around at the outdoor heated pool.
  • Looking for a wide open space to play in the snow? The field at the Rec Center is the perfect place to have a snowball fight or build a snowman.
  • Take a stroll down Labrador Lane, the walking (and dog-friendly!) hard-packed cross country skiing trail at the Snowmass Club.
  • Playgrounds aren’t just for summer! The Snowmass Recreation Center has two big, traditional-style playgrounds open year-round.
  • Head to the Snowmass Village Ice Rink for figure skating practice or a pick-up hockey game.

Base Village:

  • Check out the play areas near One Snowmass West and Sundae. These play areas allow kids to climb, explore, and slide back down to the ground!
  • Every day at 3:30pm enjoy roasting your own s’mores at the free s’mores carts in Base Village and on the Snowmass Mall.
  • Head to the Limelight Hotel to ascend the 5-story climbing wall or play in the Kids Room, where you’ll find everything from toys to books to games.
  • Enjoy free ice skating at the Collective Rink.
  • Head to The Collective for the Game Lounge and Selfie Den, where you will find foosball, pool, an interactive wall mural, ski ball, board games, and much more!
  • Check out the event calendar at The Collective for free weekly activities, such as chess club, children’s story time, and disco parties on the Rink.
  • The Alpine Climb Room at the Treehouse is a multi-layered discovery area that lets children do what they do best- explore and climb!

Snowmass Mall

  • Snowmass Lanes and Lounge bowling alley offers entertainment for friends and family of all ages. Go for a single game, or make it a family game night!

Roaring Fork Valley:

  • Check out the calendars at the local libraries- click here for Basalt, click here for Aspen.
  • Swim, splash, slide, or cruise down the lazy river at Aspen Recreation Center‘s indoor pool.

On Mountain

  • For ages 2.5-teen, skiing and snowboarding lessons at the Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center will take their skiing or riding to the next level. Lessons are available with group or private instruction.
  • Twist and turn through numerous kids tree trails, located all across the mountain for green level skiers and up.
  • Head to Low Down Terrain Park to hit jumps, boxes, and a mini half-pipe!
  • Fly through the forest among snow-covered pines on the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster.
  • Slide down the multiple lanes of lift-served tubing at Elk Camp. 
  • Take an evening gondola ride up to Elk Camp Meadows for Ullr Nights. Here you’ll find a variety of outdoor winter activities such as tubing, riding the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, snowbiking, s’mores, and hot chocolate by the bonfire.
  • For intermediate skiers and snowboarders ages 11 and up, be the first to enjoy newly groomed or fresh powder before the mountain officially opens for the day with First Tracks
