What’s New for Winter 2019/2020 in Snowmass, CO

New Restaurants, Retailers, Events, Snowmass Base Village Offerings, and More

Snowmass Village, Colo., (October 2, 2019) – Winter 2019/2020 sees exciting changes and additions to Snowmass Village. Snowmass Base Village, the second phase of which debuted in December 2018, sees the opening of its next phase in December 2019. New additions to Snowmass Base Village include two new condo properties (One Snowmass East & One Snowmass West), new restaurants, retail shops, the Snowmass Medical Clinic, a completely original Game Lounge and daily kids and cultural programming in the new Collective Snowmass, and much more. The winter 2019/2020 season also sees the opening of new restaurants and retail shops on the Snowmass Mall, the debut of several new events, and unique winter programming throughout the Village, sure to please guests of all ages.

 

New Snowmass Base Village

One Snowmass with Inspirato

One Snowmass, located at the entrance of Snowmass Base Village, debuts this winter, offering both whole and shared ownership opportunities. One Snowmass West opens in November 2019, while One Snowmass East is slated for January 2020. One Snowmass offers ski-in/ski-out access to Snowmass’s world-class slopes with a private ski locker room, as well as a complimentary One Snowmass Family Membership to Inspirato, providing access to their private Inspirato Lounge in One Snowmass East, as well as luxury collection of homes, hotels, and resorts worldwide. The Collective Snowmass

The winter 2019/2020 season sees the completion of a build out of the interior of The Collective Snowmass – the heart and soul of Base Village, a hub for community events. The project includes MixSix Restaurant and Moxi Bar, as well as sees the debut of a new community lounge that will feature entertainment, speakers, and live music. Throughout the year, local organizations such as Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES), Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Pitkin County Library, the Thunder River Theatre Company, Aspen Film, and more, round out The Collective’s programming. The building also includes the Collective Game Lounge with neon foosball, classic arcade games, artistic ping pong, a Ziegler reservoir-shaped ball pit (a tribute to the Snowmass Ice Age Discovery in 2010), and more. The Rink

The Rink in Snowmass Base Village is open daily from noon to 9:00 p.m. this winter. The Rink and skate rentals are free all season long. New for the 2019/2020 winter season, The Rink features daily programming and themed skating nights, such as disco night. Game of Stones, last year’s highly successful curling series, returns December 13, 20, and 27, as well as February 7, 14, 21, and 28. Also new this year, Ice Bumper Cars debut as a pop up this holiday season, daily from December 16 to January 2.

New Restaurants

MixSix and Moxi Bar

Snowmass Base Village’s newest restaurant and bar debuts this December 2019 in the new Collective building. MixSix brings an inventive, new fast-casual dining concept by award-winning Aspen chef Martin Oswald, featuring the best recipes from his 35-year culinary career. The restaurant caters to the Snowmass community – visitors, and locals alike – inviting diners to mix and match up to six seasonal ingredients cooked from scratch every day into a delicious, healthy and affordable meal. MixSix is open for lunch and dinner, as well as for brunch on Sundays, complete with Bloody Mary bar. Moxi Bar, also located in The Collective, and adjacent to MixSix, features inventive cocktails, craft beers, and renowned wines in a fun, approachable setting. Moxi Bar offers the perfect setting to check an email, meet up with family and friends, and enjoy a well-deserved après cocktail while the kids can entertain themselves downstairs in the new Collective Game Lounge. JÜS Snowmass

JÜS Snowmass debuts this winter with its second location in One Snowmass East (the first located in downtown Aspen), with hand-crafted cold-pressed juice blends, smoothies, and dairy-free drinks. The menu also includes healthy breakfast options such as smoothie bowls, burritos, and bagels with lunchtime selections including wraps, sandwiches, and salads.

Sam’s Restaurant

Aspen Snowmass introduces a new Italian restaurant located at 10,620 ft. at the top of Sam’s Knob on Snowmass. The new restaurant features a modern Italian concept that offers diners sweeping views of the Elk Mountains and a sophisticated but lively food experience. The $2.5 million remodel features an open bar area, live-action kitchen, fireplace with relaxed seating and a stylish deck. An added slipper room greets diners with the option to remove ski boots and slip into a pair of comfy slippers. The sit-down lunch service will emphasize a shared dining experience that begins with antipasti platters such as prosciutto di parma and burrata with Sicilian caponata followed by pastas and entrees such as rigatoni bolognese and the can’t miss rotating traditional grandma-style pizza. Pasta will be made in-house daily as is the restaurant’s artisanal bread, while a flywheel prosciutto slicer will perfectly cut the restaurant’s cured meats. Sam’s will feature a curated wine list and signature cocktails such as the Negroni Spritz. Quick-serve and grab-and-go breakfast options are available daily beginning at 9:00 a.m. from the Italian style coffee bar. The new restaurant debuts in November 2019. Big Munchies

New Retail Offerings

King Yoga

A new yoga studio, King Yoga, opens in partnership with local yogi Aaron King this winter. King Yoga offers daily yoga classes that combine healing practices with music to help students find balance between body and mind. Visit kingyoga.net for more information and class schedules.

 

Eye Pieces

Eye Pieces, a Colorado-based optical boutique, opens this winter in One Snowmass West. The store offers everything from designer frames and prescription lenses to high-performance sports frames and goggles. Eye Pieces Snowmass is the company’s fifth location in Colorado. Straight Line Studio

Straight Line Studio, presented by local artist Kelly Peters, opens this winter as a community-based art studio and gallery. Straight Line features rotating artist shows as well as studio viewing and workshops.

 

New Spa

A full-service salon and spa debuts in One Snowmass East this winter, available with haircuts, manicures, pedicures, facials and massages, and high-end beauty products.

Snowmass Medical Care Clinic

The Snowmass Medical Care Clinic relocates to its new location in One Snowmass West in December 2019. Open seven days a week, and year-round and is available to locals and visitors alike The Snowmass Medical Care clinic is a walk-in facility that is owned, operated and billed as an outpatient department of Aspen Valley Hospital. High Q

Slated to open this winter season, Snowmass’ first marijuana retail store, High Q, opens on the upper level of the Snowmass Mall. Locally owned and operated, High Q’s mission is to deliver the highest quality, organically-grown marijuana and a full array of cannabis-infused products to the discerning cannabis consumer. High Q’s bud is grown in a living soil, organically-fed, chemical and pesticide-free, long cured, and hand trimmed. New & Noteworthy Winter Events

New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade & Fireworks – December 31, 2019: Ring in 2020 in Snowmass! Close out 2019 with a traditional torchlight parade on Fanny Hill. Skiers and snowboarders ages 8 and up are invited to join in the fun. Later in the evening, take in the sight of fireworks illuminating the sky and slopes. Also, look for a variety of prix fixe and à la carte specials and parties at restaurants and bars around Snowmass Village.

 

Torah Bright MiniShred – January 11, 2020: Olympic and X Game medalist and Aspen Snowmass ambassador Torah Bright hosts her next Mini Shred in Snowmass on January 11, 2020 in Makaha Park. This event is free to join for both riders and skiers ages 7-17 with a valid lift ticket. Participants must be an intermediate level rider or skier to participate, helmets are required.

 

37th Annual Mardi Gras Celebration & Fireworks – February 25, 2020: A 37-year tradition in Snowmass, Mardi Gras kicks off with the early morning Mother of All Ascensions uphill race, followed by an afternoon of revelry with a traditional bead toss, a free Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert in Snowmass Base Village, and fireworks. Look for food and drink specials at restaurants and bars around Snowmass Village.

 

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration – March 17, 2020: Get lucky in Snowmass! Enjoy festive drinks and delicious fare both on-mountain and off-mountain with highlights including music, plenty of green beer along with other St. Patrick’s Day specials. Look for the return of the Ullrhof Games – complete with beer pong and corn hole – on the deck of the Ullrhof.

 

NASTAR National Championships – March 24-28, 2020: New for 2020, Aspen Snowmass plays host to the NASTAR National Championships at Snowmass March 24-28, 2020. NASTAR is a youth feeder program for the U.S. Ski Team, and U.S. Ski Team athletes set the pace for NASTAR. More than 50,000 racers compete at 100 resorts across the country to qualify for a spot at the National Championships. Recreational racers compete within their age and ability group to earn a National Championship title and place in the final, Race of Champions. Each National Champion carries their handicap into the race to compete for the overall win. U.S. Alpine Tech Championships – March 28-31, 2020: Aspen Snowmass, in collaboration with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard and Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club (AVSC), hosts the 2020 U.S. Alpine Tech Championships March 28-31 at Snowmass and Aspen Highlands. The Tech Championships include the disciplines of men’s and women’s slalom, giant slalom and parallel slalom.

 

Snowmass Closing Day – April 18, 2020: Close out the season with a bang! Look forward to on-mountain and off-mountain celebrations, including the Surf & Snow Beach Party and pond skim at Elk Camp followed by a swimsuit ski to the base of the mountain.
