Snowmass Village, Colo., (July 20, 2026) – August brings a full lineup of signature events, live entertainment, outdoor adventures, and family-friendly experiences to Snowmass Village. From major music festivals and art celebrations to weekly rodeos, free concerts, guided hikes, and community gatherings, visitors and locals alike can enjoy a diverse calendar of summer programming throughout the month. 

“August is one of the most vibrant times of year in Snowmass, with an incredible variety of events that reflect the community’s creativity, outdoor spirit, and mountain culture,” says Julia Theisen, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “From live music and visual arts to trail running, rodeo traditions, and family activities, there are countless ways for visitors and locals to connect, explore, and make lasting summer memories.” 

August 2026 Event Lineup   

*Postponed to 2027 – Heritage Fire – August 1: Heritage Fire is an outdoor feast that celebrates live-fire cooking, family farms, and local chefs. Due to current Stage Two fire restrictions, the live-fire cooking experience that is central to the event cannot take place this year. As a result, Heritage Fire will pause for 2026 and return in 2027, when guests can once again gather to enjoy the festival’s signature culinary experience. www.gosnowmass.com/event/heritage-fire/ 

Snowmass Tree-O – August 7-8: Snowmass Tree-O:1876 Centennial Run, produced by Denver-based Colorado Brewery Running Series returns this summer with a route commemorating the 150th anniversary of Colorado. 2026 marks 150 years since Colorado became a state (and 250 years since the United States became a nation). In honor of this momentous birthday, this year’s Snowmass Tree-O:1876 Centennial Run consists of 3.76k, 5k, and 10k trail runs starting and ending on the Snowmass Mall. Together the distances add up to 18.76K in honor of 1876, the year Colorado was founded. Runners can race on Friday evening or Saturday morning (or both!). Friday evening features two start waves at 5:00pm (5k) and 6:00pm (3.76k), and Saturday morning features three start waves at 7:30am (10k), 9:30am (5k), or 10:30am (3.76k). Up in the Sky Music Festival – August 7-8: Returning for a second year after a smashing debut in 2025, Up in the Sky Music Festival is a two-day music festival that brings live performances to the base of Buttermilk. The 2026 lineup includes John Summit, Empire of the Sun, Dom Dolla, and more. www.upintheskyfestival.com   

Plein Air Festival & Art Sale – August 8-9: The Plein Air Festival & Art Sale returns to Snowmass Village for its sixth consecutive year, August 8-9. Twenty remarkable artists descend on Snowmass to spend five days painting the natural beauty and splendor in and around the village. On Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9 from 10:00am to 4:00pm, the artwork will be judged, displayed, and available for purchase to the public in Snowmass Base Village.

The Mane Event – August 23: Celebrating Snowmass’ local heritage, this equestrian themed event returns to the Snowmass Rodeo Grounds for its third year to celebrate the long-standing tradition of horsemanship in the Roaring Fork Valley. From 11:00am to 2:00pm, get up close and personal with the animals of Smiling Goat Ranch, watch equestrian demos, enjoy a s special performance by the Westernaires, a 45-minute production with 40 horses, and enjoy a marketplace filled with favorite farmer’s market vendors and activities for kids. Summer 2026 On-going Events 

Sunset Tuesday – Tuesdays through August 4: Enjoy beautiful summer nights at Elk Camp in Snowmass during Sunset Tuesdays. The Snowmass Bike Park and Elk Camp Restaurant stay open later on Tuesdays for food, drinks, sunset views, and a few late laps. Looking for something more extreme? Sign up to compete in the Snowmass Bike Park race series, also on select Tuesdays. Sunset Tuesday includes complimentary Elk Camp Gondola ride (free service begins at 5:00pm, the last ride up at 7:30pm); Lost Forest Base activities available with a ticket; and Bonus Bike Night in the Snowmass Bike Park until dusk (late arrival tickets available starting at 2:00pm). Snowmass Rodeo – Wednesdays through August 19: The iconic Snowmass Rodeo is a long-standing Western tradition celebrating 52 years this summer. Complete with authentic cowboys and cowgirls competing in all the rodeo classics, including barrel riding, saddle bronc, bull riding, and much more, this Wednesday evening staple is not to be missed. The Snowmass Rodeo takes place on Wednesdays at 7:00pm, rain or shine. Doors open at 5:00pm for a BBQ dinner, bespoke shopping experiences, and activities. Snowmass Free Concert Series – Thursdays through August 20: Now in its 34th year, the Snowmass Free Concert Series returns to Fanny Hill every Thursday evening throughout the summer. A longtime local favorite, the outdoor series showcases a diverse range of live music—from rock and alternative, Latin to bluegrass, and beyond. Ice Age Explorer Tours – Fridays: Did you know Snowmass is the site of the finest ice age fossil discovery in the world? Learn the full story of this remarkable discovery from an Aspen Science Center educator. Every Friday at 3:30pm, meet in the Limelight Snowmass lobby to learn about the mammoths and mastodons who used to live in Snowmass, and see replicas of Ice Age animal bones, teeth, tusks, and more. Then, follow along on a guided Ice Age Passport Walk through Base Village and the Snowmass Mall to see art inspired by the discovery and earn an Ice Age prize! The Collective Snowmass – Daily: The Collective Snowmass, the hub for culture and community activity in Snowmass Base Village, has a jam-packed calendar for Summer 2026. Returning favorites include Community Bingo, Chess Club, Fitness on the Rink, Movies Under the Stars, Snowmass Live Comedy Series, and Comedy WKND!. Check the calendar for new events like, Two-Step Tuesday, musical open mics, art & wellness workshops, ecstatic dance sessions, and other pop-up activities. The Collective also features yard games, splash pads, fountains, and playground throughout Snowmass Base Village. ACES Guided Hikes – Daily: Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) returns to Snowmass this summer to lead twice daily hikes. The Snowmass Wildflower Walk begins at 10:00am, on the Nature Trail, while the Ice Age Discovery Walk starts at 1:00pm on the Discovery Trail. Hikes are led by a knowledgeable ACES Naturalist guide and feature natural history, facts about local flora and fauna, possible wildlife sightings, and species identification. Hikes leave from the Snowmass Mall Ticket Pavilion. www.gosnowmass.com/activity/aces/
