Snowmass Closes Out 50th Anniversary Season with Spring Fling Weekend

April 14-15 Includes Swimsuit Ski Down, Schneetag & Pond Skim, Beach Party & Pig Roast, Après Parties, and More

Snowmass, Colo., (April 5, 2018) – Snowmass celebrates the end of an iconic 50th anniversary season with Spring Fling – a beach themed closing weekend bash, April 14-15, throughout the Snowmass Village Mall and Base Village. The closing day festivities include a Surf & Snow Party at Elk Camp, the return of Schneetag & Pond Skim, live music at Venga Venga and Gwyn’s High Alpine, a Spring Fling Beach Party & Pig Roast in Base Village, après specials, and more.

Spring Fling Weekend Schedule – Saturday, April 14

11:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. – Surf & Snow Party at Elk Camp Restaurant

Enjoy fun in the sun at Elk Camp Restaurant. Start the party at 11:30 a.m. with tunes by DJ Naka G & DJ Hex, hot tubs, drink specials, margarita bike blenders, and plenty of giveaways. Wear swim attire for a chance to be included in the second annual Swimsuit Ski Down at 3:30 p.m. Guests who don’t wish to ski can take the Elk Camp Gondola for free to join the party.

1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Berkel Beats Beach Party at Gwyn’s High Alpine

Head to Gwyn’s High Alpine for a beach-themed celebration, dance party, and food & drink specials with DJ Berkel Beats spinning tunes.

2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Spring Fling Beach Party & Pig Roast in Base Village

Continue the celebration with the second annual Spring Fling Beach Party & Pig Roast in Base Village. The party includes a real sand dance floor, DJs, hot tubs, food & drink specials, wine & sake tastings, giveaways, and a pig roast at 3:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit Challenge Aspen. The party also includes a Kids Beach Fun Zone, complete with bounce house.

3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Milagro Après Party at Venga Venga

Venga Venga hosts music on the patio all afternoon. Be sure to check out après specials and cocktails featuring Milagro Tequila as well as a Meier Skis giveaway hosted by 106.7 THE FAN.

3:45 p.m. Swimsuit Ski Down

Ski from Elk Camp to Base Village in swim attire, as Snowmass looks to break the Guinness Book of World Records for largest swimsuit ski down. The current record is held by the AYS Group from Sochi, Russia, who completed the feat with 1,008 participants on April 9, 2016.

 

Spring Fling Weekend Schedule – Sunday, April 15

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Schneetag & Pond Skim at Spider Sabich

The 10th annual Schneetag returns to Snowmass at Spider Sabich Race Arena. Watch as teams of four pilot a homemade craft down the slopes and attempt to float across a pond. Each team has a theme and performs a skit before they descend. New this year, individual skiers and snowboarders are allowed to skim the pond in addition to the teams with crafts.

2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Smith Optics Grudge Match Rail Jam at Spider Sabich

Stick around after Schneetag to watch as 30 of the best riders in the valley compete for the honor of best trick on a specially constructed plaza-style terrain park. Competitors spin a “trick wheel”, which determines their trick. The top 8 advance to the final jam format. Spectators can enjoy food & drinks specials, as well as a DJ while watching the Jam at Spider Sabich Picnic Palace. 

3:00 p.m. Banana Hunt on Upper Fanny Hill

A time-honored tradition that started in 1985, Banana Days returns to Snowmass for the second time this season during the Spring Fling festivities. Hunt for bananas strewn on Fanny Hill between Spider Sabich and Snowmass Base Village. Banana Days features over 100 prizes, including cash, a 60 minute spa treatment at the Viceroy Spa, $100 gift certificate to TORO, free pedicure from Snowmass Village Salon, complimentary ski or snowboard tune from Four Mountain Sports, $75 gift certificate from The Edge, a free night stay at the Stonebridge Inn, and much more.
