Snowmass Base Village Debuts on Dec. 15, 2018

Celebrate the Opening of the New Limelight Hotel and Residences, Plaza, Ice Rink, The Collective Snowmass and New Eateries

SNOWMASS VILLAGE, Colo. (Dec. 3, 2018) – Snowmass Base Village (SBV), a $600 million mountain-resort development at the base of Snowmass Ski Area, currently the largest under construction in North America, debuts on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, with a community Grand Opening Celebration.

The event celebrates the completion of the new Limelight Snowmass Hotel, a public plaza featuring an ice rink surrounded by warming fire pits, a 5-story climbing wall, ski-in, ski-out luxury residences, as well as new restaurants including The Limelight Lounge, The Crȇpe Shack by Mawa’s Kitchen, CODough Bar by Sweet Coloradough, a new Four Mountain Sports retail store, and The Collective Snowmass.

The Base Village community celebration kicks off at 2:30 p.m. with a Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert featuring Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and local opening band, Garland. The Grand Opening Ceremony will follow at 5 p.m.

The new Limelight climbing wall will open with a professional climb off and Olympic Ice Skater Paul Wylie and local skate clubs will kick off the grand opening of the ice rink. Both the climbing wall and ice skating rink will be free and open to the public following the performances. Local DJ Naka G will perform throughout the celebration. The celebration will also include a free photobooth, courtesy of Snowmass Tourism, and a fireworks show at 6:15 p.m.

The Collective Snowmass, a new community gathering space, will be open from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a Pop-Up Holiday Market featuring goods by Woodland, Holly Ann, Lululemon, Anderson Ranch, All Things Sweet, The Gibson Collective, Scout and Cellar and more. The Collective Lounge furnished by Hayneedle will also be open.

The celebration will include free tastings, courtesy of the Limelight Lounge, Mawa’s Crepe Shack, Snowmass Tourism, Sweet Coloradough, and Slow Groovin’ BBQ. In addition, Base Village restaurants including Base Camp Bar & Grill, Slice, State 38, Sake and TORO in the Viceroy Snowmass will be open for dinner.

Attendees of the Grand Opening celebration are encouraged to ride public transit from the Rodeo or Intercept lots.

In addition to the Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 15, Snowmass will host a collection of activities throughout the weekend, starting on Friday, Dec. 14 with an Après Ski Stroll on the Snowmass Mall. From 3:30-7 p.m., the Après Ski Stroll will feature an ice sculpture demonstration and exhibition, free photos with Santa, complimentary holiday cookies at participating retailers, roving musicians, free kids crafts, and Snowmass S’mores. The evening also features happy hour specials from New Belgium Ranger Station, Venga Venga, The Artisan, The Edge, and others.

On Sun., Dec. 16, breakfast and brunch specials will be served at participating restaurants around Snowmass, including The Artisan, which offers a $5 bloody mary bar and $4 mimosas.
