Holiday Cheer Comes from Far & Near to Snowmass, CO

The Holiday Season in Snowmass Features Fireworks, Ice Bumper Cars, Free S’mores, Santa Claus, Menorah and Tree Lightings, a Torchlight Parade, and More

Snowmass Village, Colo., (November 1, 2019) – An idyllic holiday destination, Snowmass Village, CO brings guests closer to nature this holiday season, with menorah and tree lighting ceremonies, visits from Santa, ice bumper cars, s’mores, and more. From the start of ski season on Thanksgiving Day through the New Year, guests can enjoy a variety of holiday activities, treats, and adventures, all catered to give visitors and locals alike the ultimate Snowmass experience.

 

Snowmass Ski Area celebrates Opening Day on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 28), with plenty of on-the-slopes fun, followed by Thanksgiving menus at participating restaurants around Snowmass Village. The day after Thanksgiving, November 29, features Thanksjibbing, where spectators can watch talented skiers and snowboarders throw down for their piece of a cash prize (and season long bragging rights) on an urban inspired terrain park on Fanny Hill from 2:00-3:00pm.

 

Back for its third year, starting opening day, November 28, 2019, guests of all ages can enjoy Snowmass S’mores, free from 3:30 – 4:30pm every day throughout the winter season, presented by Snowmass Tourism. Guests can find branded s’mores carts (which resemble oversized marshmallows and include step by step s’moring instructions) at the fire pits in Snowmass Base Village and on the Snowmass Mall, each serving up the classic s’more combination of graham crackers, chocolate, and roasted marshmallows. Over the holiday season, guests can delight in a special holiday s’more flavor, the Candy Cane, complete with graham cracker, marshmallow, and white chocolate peppermint bark, in addition to The Classic.

Snowmass Village lights up for the holiday season on Friday, December 6 at 5:30pm with the annual Light Up the Night tree lighting ceremony at the Snowmass Chapel. 40 Christmas trees light up the night sky, while Mr. and Mrs. Claus are on hand with cookies, hot chocolate, and carols.

 

The Rink in Snowmass Base Village is free and open daily from noon to 9:00pm this holiday season and all winter long. Ice Bumper Cars debut as a pop up, daily from December 17 to January 2. Game of Stones, last year’s highly successful curling series, returns December 13, 20, and 27 and February 7, 14, 21 and 28.

 

Anderson Ranch Arts Center offers guests a magical winter experience during their Holiday Open House on Tuesday, December 17. The evening begins at 4:30pm and includes artists-in-residence studio tours, a special exhibition opening in the Patton-Malott Gallery, children’s holiday themed art activities, a trunk show in the ArtWorks store, and a community holiday dinner in the Ranch Café. The Holiday Open House is free and open to the public. The community holiday dinner is a ticketed event, reservations required.

 

Snowmass Village comes alive with a special Santa’s Village in the Collective Lounge in Snowmass Base Village from December 21-24, from 2:00pm-4:00pm, where children can take complimentary photos with Santa. The Collective also hosts a Christmas carol sing-along from 4:00pm-5:00pm on December 24. Local Dickon’s Carolers bring festive cheer to the Snowmass Mall and Snowmass Center, singing crowd favorites.

 

Celebrate Hanukkah with a large Menorah in the Collective Lounge, December 22-30. On the first night of Hanukkah, Snowmass Base Village hosts a festive evening, with traditional prayer, food, and games of dreidel. The Viceroy Snowmass also has a Menorah in the lobby of the hotel, with Hanukkah cookies and a special lighting ceremony every day at 5:00pm.

 

On Christmas Eve, guests can attend one of three Christmas Eve Services at the Snowmass Chapel. Services occur on December 24 at 5:00pm, 7:00pm, and 9:00pm. The 5:00pm service is crafted with families in mind, while the 7:00pm and 9:00pm services feature a full choir and orchestra. All services include a special rendition of Silent Night sung by candlelight. 

 

On New Year’s Eve, guests and locals alike are invited to experience the Torchlight Parade and Fireworks. The Torchlight Parade features skiers and snowboarders making wide turns down the mountain with red flares that illuminate the night sky and snow with a festive glow. The parade begins at 6:00pm and all are welcome to participate or enjoy from the base of the mountain. (Ski/snowboard participants begin loading the Village Express chairlift at 5:30pm.) Fireworks over Snowmass Village begin at 10:00pm.

 

Ring in the New Year in Snowmass! Three major New Year’s Eve parties take place around Snowmass Village including – The Viceroy Snowmass New Year’s Eve Gala at Toro Latin Kitchen & Bar. Returning for the 9th year, the Gala includes a four-course prix fixe dinner, musical entertainment, dancing, a Dom Perignon champagne toast, hats, noisemakers, and more for $375/person. The Viceroy also hosts a Community New Year’s Eve Party in the Viceroy Ballroom. The family friendly evening lasts from 6:00-10:30pm and includes a holiday dinner buffet, champagne toast at 10:00pm to coincide with the New York City Ball Drop, a DJ, family activities, and more. $120 for adults and $65 for kids. Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Snowmass Base Village with the New Year’s Eve Roaring 20’s Party. Ring in 2020 with an ode to the 1920’s! The party includes music by Sweet Temerity swing band, a 1920’s themed photo booth, and bites catered by Chef Martin Oswald of mix6, featuring an unlimited surf and turf buffet (all you can eat lobster and steak) with heavy passed apps, and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Ages 21+; $200. In addition, look for a variety of prix fixe and à la carte specials at restaurants and bars around Snowmass Village.
