The 2021 Holiday Season Features Fireworks, Santa, Carolers, Tree & Menorah Lightings, and More

Snowmass Village, Colo., (November 24, 2021) – An idyllic holiday destination, Snowmass Village, CO celebrates the 2021 holiday season in festive fashion. Throughout December and into the New Year, guests can enjoy a variety of celebratory activities, treats, and experiences.

 

“The holidays in Snowmass are beautiful, joyful, and so much fun,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “This year we see the return of in-person holiday events to Snowmass, such as visits with Santa, Anderson Ranch’s Holiday Open House, tree and menorah lightings, and more.  We can’t wait to share this special time of year with our community and our guests.”

 

Kick off the holidays in Snowmass with Snowmass S’mores. Starting on opening day of ski season (Thanksgiving Day), guests of all ages can enjoy Snowmass S’mores, free starting at 3:30 p.m. daily throughout the winter season, presented by Snowmass Tourism. Guests can find branded s’mores carts (which resemble oversized marshmallows) in Snowmass Base Village and on the Snowmass Mall, featuring delicious s’mores treats.

 

This winter season, the Collective Snowmass, the hub for community activity in Snowmass Base Village, features a robust winter lineup of weekly programming. Programming includes chess club on Mondays; the return of the popular comedy series on Wednesdays; bingo night on Thursdays; live music throughout the season; ice rink performances and discos on the rink on Saturdays; and scheduled live panel discussions. The Collective also features a free ice skating rink, open daily 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., pending weather conditions. Game of Stones, the highly successful curling series, returns to The Rink on Thursday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., December 2 through the end of February, weather permitting. This winter, visit the Selfie Den, located adjacent to the Game Lounge. Celebrate Hanukkah at the Collective Snowmass with large Menorahs on display November 28-December 6. On the first night of Hanukkah, enjoy a festive Menorah lighting at 6:00 p.m., hosted by Snowmass Town Council Member Alyssa Shenk.

 

Anderson Ranch Arts Center debuts a special Holiday Wreath Making activity on December 2, with drinks and light bites included in the cost of the workshop, and timed perfectly as a special après ski activity, starting at 4:00 p.m. The Ranch also offers guests a magical winter experience during the Holiday Open House on December 9 at 5:00 p.m. The evening includes Artists-in-Residence open studio tours, a special exhibition in the Patton-Malott Gallery, children’s holiday-themed art activities, a selection of one-of-a-kind gifts in the ArtWorks store. The Holiday Open House is free and open to the public. Throughout the season, Virtual Art Salons occur once a month starting in December, and new on December 16, through Spring 2022, a special monthly “Sip & Sketch” debuts at the Ranch, featuring a drawing lesson and wine tasting, pricing includes artistic supplies and drinks.

 

Snowmass Village lights up for the holiday season on Friday, December 3 at 5:30 p.m. with the annual Light Up the Night tree lighting ceremony at the Snowmass Chapel. Enjoy cocoa, carols, a countdown, and an in person visit from Santa. Over 40 trees light up the night, making for a stunning picturesque display.

 

New for this winter season, Red Bull Illume debuts on December 4 and runs through January 2, 2022. Award-winning photographs from the 2021 Red Bull Illume Image Quest are showcased on Fanny Hill. The world’s greatest adventure and action sports imagery contest showcases the most creative and captivating images of the year while also illuminating the lifestyle, culture, and passion of the photographers behind the lenses. Fifty-three renowned photo editors and experts review a total of 41,447 submissions, narrowing down the selection in five voting rounds to reach 256 semifinalists, 56 finalists, 11 category winners, and ultimately, the first-place winner of Red Bull Illume Image Quest 2021.

 

From December 17 through February 27, Snowmass Luminescence, an interactive art and light display presented by Snowmass Tourism and Aspen Snowmass, immerses guests and community members in a dazzling world of light and art, located between Snowmass Base Village and the Snowmass Mall. This year, Snowmass Luminescence features highlights such as the Electric Dandelions, giant steel and acrylic sculptures that represent dandelion flowers during the day and come to life at night as an endless firework display, and The Wave, five hundred individual suspended orbs, brought to life through light and sound, that collectively create a dynamic audiovisual experience, in the form of a sculptural wave. Snowmass Luminescence runs from sunset to 9:00 p.m. daily.

 

The Collective Snowmass comes alive with a special Holiday Scene from December 15-27, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Guests are able to take photos and enjoy the festive cheer. December 17-18, the Collective Snowmass hosts a Winter Market. From 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., the Winter Market features local artisans and vendors, pottery, candles, jewelry, and festive goods.

 

From December 20 – December 25, the new Viewline Snowmass Resort, Autograph Collection features daily hot cocoa and cider stations, as well as live music in the lobby from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

 

Holidays carolers, the Holiday Bell Tones, bring festive cheer to the Snowmass Mall and the Snowmass Center, singing crowd favorites, December 21-24 from 12:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. each day.

 

Santa is back this year at the Collective Snowmass from December 21-24, and his Village is open for all to explore. Sensory Santa, in conjunction with Challenge Aspen, is available from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Just outside The Collective, enjoy a live ice sculpture demo on December 29 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

 

On Christmas Eve, guests can attend one of three Christmas Eve Services at the Snowmass Chapel. Services on December 24 take place at 5:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m., complete with music, readings, and reflections.

 

On Christmas Day, celebrate Christmas at restaurants and hotels around Snowmass, including at the new Viewline Snowmass Resort, Autograph Collection, which offers holiday treats and champagne from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Christmas Brunch at Stark’s Alpine Grill from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., and a special Family Movie Night, featuring The Grinch. TORO at the Viceroy Snowmass, offers a Gala Buffet from 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. for $165/person, including half a bottle of complimentary champagne. Kids are $55/person, 8 and under. The Artisan, located inside the Stonebridge Inn, features a prix fixe Christmas Dinner – $75 Adult/$25 Children under 12.

 

Guests and locals alike can enjoy monthly festive fireworks throughout the season, including a show on December 23 at 6:00 p.m. and New Year’s Eve (December 31 at 10:00 p.m.). With the spectacle launched from Fanny Hill, all can enjoy the colorful show from balconies, trails, and restaurants around Snowmass Village. On New Year’s Eve, guests and locals alike are invited to experience the Torchlight Parade and Fireworks. The Torchlight Parade features skiers and snowboarders making wide turns down the mountain with red flares that illuminate the night sky and snow with a festive glow. The parade begins at 6:00pm and all are welcome to participate or enjoy from the base of the mountain. (Ski/snowboard participants begin loading the Village Express chairlift at 5:30pm.)

To ring in 2021 and the New Year, guests can look for a variety of prix fixe and à la carte specials at restaurants and bars around Snowmass Village. Viewline Snowmass Resort, Autograph Collection features free live music in the lobby from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m., and an “East Coast Toast” Balloon Drop at 10:00 p.m. with countdown to the New Year, complete with party favors. The Collective Snowmass hosts a festive New Year’s Eve celebration from 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. featuring DJ Tenza, a photo booth, festive party favors, an East Coast ball drop, and a complimentary champagne toast. TORO at the Viceroy Snowmass offers a Gala Buffet from 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. for $420/person, including a Ruinart Champagne toast, music, libations, dancing, and a DJ. The Artisan, located inside the Stonebridge Inn, features a New Year’s Eve prix fixe menu. $85 adults/$125 adults with wine pairing/$35 kids, featuring a 3-course kids menu.
