Get Outside in Snowmass this August

Event Highlights Include the VIDA MTB Series, Zoppé Circus, 5k on the Mountain, Tough Mudder, and JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience

Snowmass Village, Colo., (July 25, 2018) – Set amidst mid-summer wildflowers and early-morning sunrises, Snowmass’ August lineup features a wide variety of athletic endeavors, including three bike specific events – VIDA MTB Series: August 3-5, Big Mountain Enduro Finals: August 4-5, and the Snowmass Loop MTB Fondo: August 18. The lineup also includes three running/endurance events – Reebok Ragnar Colorado Road Relay: August 10-11, new for this summer, 5K on the Mountain: August 12, and Tough Mudder Colorado: August 25-26. In addition, cultural events including the Zoppé Italian Family Circus, August 17-19 and JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, August 31-September 2 join the list of activities.

“Our August event lineup provides incredible opportunities to get out on the trails,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “From biking events and clinics, to running races and obstacle runs, locals and visitors alike can find a challenge that is right for them. Plus annual favorites including the Zoppé Italian Family Circus, the Snowmass Free Concert Series, and the JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience add to the fun.”

 

On-going August Events:

Tuesdays: Farm to Table Tuesdays & Bonus Bike Park Nights – Tuesdays, August 7, 14, 21: In conjunction with the Farm to Table Dinners, where guests can enjoy a free ride up the Elk Camp gondola to the Elk Camp Restaurant and indulge in locally sourced ingredients in a farm-to-table-inspired, a-la-carte dinner with full cash bar, outdoor family activities and live music, the Snowmass Bike Park will extend the park hours to stay open until dusk every Tuesday until August 21. Riders can purchase a late arrival ticket for $29, valid 2 p.m. until dusk. Click here for more information.

Wednesdays: Snowmass Rodeo – Wednesdays, August 1, 8, 15, 22: The Snowmass Rodeo celebrates 45 years of operations this summer, making it one of the longest continuously running rodeo in Colorado. The Snowmass Rodeo takes place on Wednesdays, rain or shine, through August 22.

Thursdays: Snowmass Free Concert Series – Thursdays, August 2, 9, 16: On Thursdays throughout the summer Snowmass hosts a weekly free concert series on Fanny Hill, showcasing genres of music ranging from reggae, to soul, to funk, to rock. 2018 marks the 27th year of the Snowmass Free Concert Series. Fridays: Fridays on the Mall – Fridays, August 3, 10, 17: Kick off the weekend on the Snowmass Village Mall with music, extended business hours, local artisans, food & drink specials, and more. On August 3, look out for a special appearance by the Rosybelle Mobile Maker Bus.

 

August Event Lineup:

VIDA MTB Series – August 3-5: The Yeti Cycles VIDA MTB Series is a three-day event, including a two-day women’s only mountain bike clinic. The clinic provides women with the opportunity to increase their mountain biking confidence, learn new skills, and to connect with VIDA coaches on proper biking technique. The weekend includes a welcome reception, healthy meals, yoga, bike maintenance classes, happy hour events, and tons of riding.

Big Mountain Enduro Finals – August 4-5: The Big Mountain Enduro, a two-day professional singletrack event, finishes its tour in Snowmass this summer. The tour combines high altitude riding and big descents over the course of six stages and thousands of feet of climbing and descents. As a bonus, tour is also part of the EWS Continental Series, meaning this race will also count toward Enduro World Series qualification and global rankings.

Reebok Ragnar Colorado Road Relay – August 10-11: Ragnar Relay Colorado begins in Copper Mountain and features 24 hours of over 200 miles of relay running before ending in Snowmass, Colorado. For more information, please visit www.runragnar.com/event-detail/relay/colorado.

5K on the Mountain – August 12: The 5K on the Mountain, presented by Colorado Brewery Running Series, consists of a 5k trail run at 11:00 a.m., starting and ending at the Snowmass Village Mall, followed by a post beer party at the New Belgium Ranger Station. Runners, walkers, joggers, and spectators are welcome to attend. Live music by Bonte Lane starts at 11:30 a.m. The race benefits JFMF, Jake Powell Foerster Music Foundation.

Zoppé Italian Family Circus – August 17-19: The Zoppé Italian Family Circus returns to Snowmass again this summer, welcoming guests into an intimate 500-seat circus tent for a one-ring circus, honoring the best of the Old-World Italian circus tradition. The circus features aerial stunts, horse riding, dog tricks, and much more. 

Snowmass Loop MTB Fondo – August 18: Returning for its third year, the Snowmass Loop MTB Fondo showcases “The Snowmass Loop”, 24 miles of singletrack including over 4,000’ of climbing and descending. The event supports the Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association.

Tough Mudder Colorado – August 25-26: Tough Mudder returns to Snowmass after a one-year hiatus. The sprawling course includes the biggest elevation gain in North America. The weekend features three events – Tough Mudder Half (5 miles/10+ obstacles), Tough Mudder Full (10 miles/20+ obstacles), and Tougher Mudder, (10 miles/competitive race wave).

JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience – August 31-September 2: JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, a world-class music festival, set amidst the stunning backdrop of Snowmass Village, returns to Snowmass Town Park with headliners including Zac Brown Band, Lionel Richie, Jack Johnson, Fitz and the Tantrums, Michael Franti & Spearhead , Gary Clark Jr., and more.
