Emblematic Fall Favorites & New Events Close Out Summer in Snowmass

Snowmass Village, Colo., (August 22, 2024) – Three new events debut this September in Snowmass, alongside a unique lineup of fall favorites. New events include The Mane Event, Magic in the Mountains: a Mad Hatter Community Picnic Affair, as well as the last of the Community Ice Cream Socials. Returning events include the ever-popular Snowmass Déjà Vu, Snowmass Balloon Festival, Snowmass Wine Festival, and many more.  

 

“September in Snowmass is just spectacular,” says Julia Theisen, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “The event lineup is iconic, complemented by the stunning backdrop of fall colors in Snowmass. What a way to close out a great 2024 summer season.”

JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience – August 30-September 1: JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience features three days of world-class performances on multiple stages. 2024 acts include Sting, Brandi Carlile, Dierks Bentley, Lukas Nelson, OneRepublic, The Black Crows, Michael Marcagi, and The War and Treaty. www.gosnowmass.com/event/jaslabor-day-experience/    

 

*New – Community Ice Cream Social – September 6: From 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., head down to Snowmass Town Park for an ice-cold community gathering, featuring free ice cream from The Dreamery, lawn games, and community fun. www.gosnowmass.com/event/community-ice-cream-social/ 

 

Snowmass Déjà Vu – September 7: This summer, the event organizers behind Snowmass Rendezvous return with Snowmass Déjà Vu, an homage to the classic Snowmass Craft Beer and Chili Pepper & Brew festivals from years past. On September 7 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Denver-based Two Parts hosts a retro-inspired party, complete with free-flowing beers, engaging activations, and plenty more surprises in store. Expect a slopeside, summer day full of tastings from favorite Colorado breweries from the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. www.gosnowmass.com/event/snowmass-deja-vu/    

 

*New – The Mane Event – September 8: Celebrating Snowmass’ local heritage, with a nod to the horse, this new event seeks to celebrate the long-standing tradition of horsemanship in the Roaring Fork Valley. From 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., come experience a curated marketplace, complete with equestrian demos such as Spanish Dressage, a Mexican Horse Extravaganza, therapeutic horseback riding techniques from Smiling Goat Ranch, as well as reining, equine massage and farrier (horse shoeing) demos. Get up close and personal with the animals of Smiling Goat Ranch and enjoy a marketplace filled with a few favorite farmer’s market vendors and activities for the kids. Taking place at the new $6.5 million Snowmass Rodeo Grounds, the free afternoon event also features live music by musicians of Elk Range. Food and drink are available for purchase from Base Camp Bar & Grill and Sundae, with proceeds benefiting Smiling Goat Ranch. www.gosnowmass.com/event/the-mane-event/  

 

Axes & Arms Walk – September 11: From 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., join local first responders for a walk from Town Park Station to the Top of the Village, 956ft, the highest number of feet that the brave New York first responders walked inside the first tower of the World Trade Center. Following the climb, return to Town Park to enjoy food, drinks, yard games, and more, provided by Roaring Fork Fire Authority. Snowmass Balloon Festival – September 13-15: The Snowmass Balloon Festival celebrates its 49th anniversary in 2024. The long-standing Rocky Mountain tradition features 30+ festive balloons launching into the air from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and the return of the popular Night Glow on Friday evening. Balloons will still launch for the Memorial Rat Race on Friday morning, but the Balloon Festival grounds will be closed to the public. Snowmass Wine Festival – September 14: Experience an incredible afternoon of wine, food, sights, and sounds at the Snowmass Wine Festival, hosted by the Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. Returning for its 22nd year, the festival features 30+ tables of wine from around the world enjoyed under the tents at Snowmass Town Park on Saturday, September 14. The festival also showcases food from local restaurants, music, and a silent auction to benefit the Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. Festival Del Rancho – September 21: Anderson Ranch Arts Center hosts the fourth annual celebration of Latinx/e and Hispanic culture through art, dance, music, food, and more. From 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., this free gathering welcomes community members to attend and enjoy an afternoon of music, dance, food and art activities for all ages. www.andersonranch.org   

 

*New – Magic in the Mountains: a Mad Hatter Community Affair – September 21: From 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., come celebrate the end of the summer season in Snowmass Base Village. This free event features live music with the Tea Party Troublemakers, a hat decorating contest, live mural painting with Kelly Peters and Heather Quinn, Tarot Card readings, and kid’s activities. Costumes are encouraged! The top three contestants from the costume contest will receive a gift card to local Snowmass businesses. Enjoy complimentary Tea (1 drink ticket per person, mocktails and adult specialty cocktails from Mawita & Limelight) and complimentary tea party snacks, while supplies last, From 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. stick around for a Silent Disco under the stars. www.thecollectivesnowmass.com   

 

Golden Leaf Half Marathon – September 28: Chosen by Trail Runner magazine as one of “America’s 14 Most Scenic Races” this classic trail running race from Snowmass to Aspen is an annual sell out that provides 980’ elevation gain and a 1,712’ descent over its 13.1 miles. www.gosnowmass.com/event/golden-leaf-half-marathon/    

 

VNTRbirds Presents VIDA MTB Series – September 28-29: VNTRbirds (venture birds) encourage women through outdoor education and adventure. Women-run and based in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, VNTRbirds brings women to the outdoors through mountain biking, backcountry skiing, splitboarding and community meet ups. These experiences bring women together and help create more confidence and self-reliance in the outdoors. The VIDA MTB Series, September 28-29, provides women with the opportunity to enhance their riding skills, connect with VNTRbirds coaches, and fully immerse themselves into the nitty-gritty of proper biking technique and the confidence needed to tackle new challenges. Snowmass Ice Age Discovery Explorer Tours – Fridays, through September 27: Did you know Snowmass is the site of the finest ice age fossil discovery in the world? Learn the full story of this remarkable discovery from an Aspen Science Center educator. Every Friday at 3:30 p.m., meet in the Limelight Snowmass lobby to learn about the mammoths and mastodons who used to live in Snowmass, and see replicas of Ice Age animal bones, teeth, tusks and more. Then, follow along on a guided Ice Age Passport Walk through Base Village and the Snowmass Mall to see art inspired by the discovery and earn an Ice Age prize! ACES Guided Hikes – Through September 29: Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) returns to Snowmass this summer to lead twice daily hikes. The Snowmass Wildflower Walk begins at 10:00 a.m., on the Nature Trail, while the Ice Age Discovery Walk starts at 1:00 p.m. on the Discovery Trail. Hikes are led by a knowledgeable ACES environmentalist and feature history, facts, trivia, flora and fauna, and possible wildlife sightings. Hikes leave from the Snowmass Mall Ticket Pavilion.
