Drive-By Truckers and Contemporary Artist Jesse Fleming Headline New Snowmass Summer Experience; Weekend Also Features the Seratones and Art Co-Curator Emma Gray

Snowmass, Colo., (April 3, 2017) – Today, BLUEBIRD Art + Sound, a leading-edge contemporary art and live music event debuting in Snowmass June 30-July 2, announces headlining bands, featured artists, and the theme for the weekend experience.

BLUEBIRD Art –

For all three days of the event – Friday, June 30, Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2 – a free, interactive art exhibition will be open in Base Village, and an art walk will occur on the Snowmass Village Mall. The interactive art exhibition, known as the BAS Art Experience, is curated by Los Angeles artists Jesse Fleming and Emma Gray. Fleming is part of an emerging group of artists and technologists who are at the forefront of depicting the convergence of media art and mindfulness. Emma Gray is the founder of FIVE CAR GARAGE, a contemporary art project space.

The BAS Art Experience is slated to include diverse art forms including video installation, virtual reality, still paintings, exterior structure projections, and sound/music performance art, complimented by daily scheduled art discussions and guided mindfulness practices. The interior of BAS Art Experience will follow an immersive flow, allowing viewers to examine the duality of the human experience within each environment.

BLUEBIRD Sound –

On Friday, June 30, the Drive-By Truckers will perform a paid concert on Fanny Hill. The Drive-By Truckers are an alternative country/Southern rock band based out of Athens, Georgia. The band recently released their 11th album, American Band, on September 30, 2016. The album features an alternative country sound and politically oriented lyrics to fit the changing political landscape. Opening for the Drive-By Truckers are the Seratones, an up-and-coming rock ‘n roll band out of Shreveport, Louisiana.

On Sunday, the Sound experience culminates with the BLUEBIRD Closing Party featuring DJ Kid606, a Los Angeles based DJ, from 6pm-10pm on the Base Camp Village Lawn, next to the Art Experience.

BLUEBIRD Experience –

The entire BLUEBIRD Experience is centered around the theme “Us.” “In a polarized society, the message of “Us” is more important than ever,” says event producer Garrett Chau, CEO of DRIVE GROUP. “BLUEBIRD Art + Sound brings together art, music, and technology into a unified event based around a yearly theme. The festival aims to bring people together to celebrate, and to spur thought and civilized discourse around music and art.”

BLUEBIRD Art + Sound is a partnership between Snowmass Tourism and DRIVE Group, based in Los Angeles. “Where better than in the stunning surroundings of Snowmass to take part in this thought-provoking and entertaining event?” says Rose Abello, Director of Snowmass Tourism. “Everything that BLUEBIRD stands for resonates with our local community of residents and visitors: leading-edge art, live outdoor concerts, mindfulness, and togetherness. It’s a juxtaposition that works beautifully in this valley.”

BLUEBIRD Art + Sound occurs June 30-July 2, 2017. Tickets for Drive By Truckers and the Seratones can be purchased through Eventbrite for $30. The weekend long BAS Art Experience and Sunday evening DJ show are free and open to the public.
