August Brings Late Summer Fun to Snowmass, Colorado

August Event Lineup Features New Yoga Festival, Women Specific Mountain Biking Clinics, the Return of the Zoppé Italian Family Circus, and More

Snowmass, Colo., (July 21, 2017) – August in Snowmass features a dynamic lineup of events, including cultural happenings such as the Challenge Aspen Vince Gill & Amy Grant Gala + Golf Classic, Colorado Scottish Festival, and Zoppé Italian Family Circus, and sporting events including Audi Power of Four, VIDA MTB Series Women’s Skills Clinic, and Ragnar Relay Colorado. August also sees the debut of a new yoga festival, Yoga on the Mountain.

“Our August event is packed with non-stop fun and excitement,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “We kick off our August event lineup with the Challenge Aspen Vince Gill & Amy Grant Gala + Golf Classic, quickly followed by the Colorado Scottish Festival, a truly one-of-a-kind event, before welcoming back the Zoppé Italian Family Circus as they celebrate their 175th year. In addition, the Audi Power of Four, VIDA MTB Women’s Skills Clinics, and Ragnar all return to the Village, and we are thrilled to introduce Yoga on the Mountain, smaller in scale than Wanderlust, but equal in terms of quality and range.”

Challenge Aspen Vince Grill & Amy Grant Gala + Golf Classic – July 31-August 1: Challenge Aspen, a Snowmass based nonprofit dedicated to impacting the lives of individuals faced with cognitive or physical challenges, presents the 14th Annual Vince Gill & Amy Grant Gala + Golf Classic. Colorado Scottish Festival – August 4-6: The Colorado Scottish Festival, now in its 54th year, returns to Snowmass for the third year running. The Festival features bagpipes, highland dancers and athletes, clans, Celtic music, a free concert, and more. For more information, please visit www.scottishgames.org

Audi Power of Four MTB Race – August 5: For the eighth year in a row, Aspen Snowmass presents the Audi Power of Four Mountain Bike Race. The unique 33-mile point-to-point mountain bike race combines single and double track trails across the four ski areas of Aspen Snowmass (Snowmass, Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands and Aspen Mountain). The course begins at the base of Snowmass and features 8,389 ft. of vertical gain and 8,897 ft. of vertical loss before ending at the base of Aspen Mountain. Audi Power of Four Trail Race – August 5-6: For the fifth year in a row, Aspen Snowmass hosts the Audi Power of Four Trail Race. The race, also known as the 50K Ultra, covers the four Aspen Snowmass mountains (Snowmass, Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands and Aspen Mountain) utilizing a mix of single track and dirt road. The course showcases 12,178 ft. of elevation gain and 11,632 ft. of elevation loss across a 31-mile course that begins at the base of Aspen Mountain, climbs to the Sundeck, and then follows single and double-track trails over Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass before finishing in Snowmass Base Village.

In addition, a 25K race is offered along the Government Trail, which covers the mountains of Buttermilk and Snowmass. This course option features an elevation gain of 4,918 ft. and 4,483 ft. in elevation loss. A 10K option is also available and starts at the Elk Camp restaurant in Snowmass and finishes in Snowmass Base Village. VIDA MTB Series Women’s Skills Clinic – August 5-6: The VIDA MTB Series Women’s Skills Clinic is the ideal place for women who rip to learn or enhance their mountain biking skills, as well as to meet others who share their passion for the sport. The two-day event provides women with the opportunity to connect with VIDA coaches and fully immerse themselves into the nitty-gritty of proper biking technique, all while increasing the confidence needed to tackle new challenges. Yoga on the Mountain – August 11-13: Yoga on the Mountain, presented by Power Yoga Retreats, is a new three-day festival featuring over 60 diverse yoga classes. The program includes basic classes such as introduction to chanting and introduction to Ayurveda, in addition to more complex classes like sunrise flow and hypnotic flow. Zoppé Italian Family Circus – August 18-20: The Zoppé Italian Family Circus returns to Snowmass to welcome guests into an intimate 500-seat tent for a one-ring circus that honors the best of the Old-World Italian tradition. Snowmass Rodeo – August 2, 9, 16, & 23: The summer rodeo runs every Wednesday, rain or shine. Celebrating its 44th season, the Snowmass Rodeo is one of the longest running rodeos in Colorado and includes exciting competitions such as Saddle Bronc and Bull Riding, Team Roping, and Barrel Racing. Snowmass Summer Free Concert Series – August 4, 10, & 17: Returning for its 26th summer season, the Snowmass Summer Concert Series draws guests to Fanny Hill for a relaxed atmosphere and spectacular mountain setting to enjoy the country’s most distinguished rock, R&B, soul, and Latin performers. Bring a picnic and a blanket for the ultimate al fresco experience. Cocktails and beer are available for purchase. Kids’ Zone available at select performances. Concerts take place on various days of the week throughout the summer season.
