Few places boast a history as rich and robust as Aspen Snowmass. From Native Americans to ranchers and miners to performers, outlaws, environmentalists, artists, and athletes, Aspen Snowmass is deeply rooted in an independent, pioneering spirit that goes back centuries. In the summer, Aspen Historical Society activities run the gamut from kids’ camps to historic walking and coach tours to experiential exhibits at the ghost towns of Ashcroft and Independence Pass. In the wintertime, check out the Wheeler/Stallard Museum or the Holden/Marolt Mining and Ranching Museum for an intimate look at the region’s fascinating history.
