What’s New in Snowmass, Colorado: Summer 2022

30 Years of Live Music, New Events, Hotel Packages, Groundbreakings, and More

Snowmass Village, Colo., (May 16, 2022) – Snowmass Village continues to build and enhance its summer offerings to reflect the interests of locals and visitors alike. Summer 2022 sees the debut of two new events to the summer calendar, the 30th Anniversary of the long-standing Snowmass Free Concert Series, new hotel packages, groundbreakings, added bike trails, and much more.

 

“With 30 years of live music in Snowmass, new events, etc., there is so much to celebrate in 2022,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “It’s exciting to see Snowmass Village come alive with so many options for locals and visitors to enjoy.”

 

New & Notable 2022 Summer Events

Snowmass Free Concert Series: 30 Years of Music – June 16-August 25: Celebrating 30 years of free live music this summer, the Snowmass Free Concert Series, a local’s favorite, long standing summer tradition, returns to Fanny Hill every Thursday evening at 6:30pm, June 16-August 25. The series kicks off with returning favorite Hot Buttered Rum. This first concert features commemorative giveaways and a 30th Anniversary celebration. New this season, guests will see an improved Fanny Hill concert venue, including a new stage roof; new dedicated crusher fine pathways, aisles, and dance floor; a new entry area complete with flowers and updated branding; and new signage and logo’d fencing. Also new for this summer season are two custom branded Snowmass container bars, which replace the tented bars in the venue. In addition, the Electric Dandelions, which first debuted during the Winter 2021/2022 Snowmass Luminescence, will bring their dazzling display to the Fanny Hill hillside. These giant steel and acrylic sculptures represent dandelion flowers during the day and come to life at night as an endless firework display. The 2022 lineup includes beloved acts such as the Freddy Jones Band and Hazel Miller, while exciting new performers include MarchFourth, Spazmatics, and The Altons. *New – 2022 Drishti Beats Yoga & Music Festival – July 8-10: The 2022 Drishti Beats Yoga & Music Festival in Snowmass Village, CO explores the symbiotic connection between music, yoga, and the outdoors. Each carefully selected yoga class features live music, creating a magical experience, led by a notable yoga instructor. The three-day festival features yoga classes, lectures, and a live music lineup highlighting some of the top artists of downtempo electronic chill and house music. *New – Plein Air Art Festival – August 8-14: Summer 2022 sees the debut of the first ever Plein Air Art Festival in Snowmass Village, CO. From August 8-14, over 20 Colorado artists descend on Snowmass to spend four days painting the natural beauty and splendor of the surrounding landscape. Viceroy Snowmass Welcomes Vi, the Hotel’s Official House Dog
Viceroy Snowmass is proud to introduce Vi, its new “house dog,” who welcomes guests during a pet-friendly “Yappy Hour” on the patio at NEST. Vi, a 5-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog, is a friendly new fixture on the Viceroy Snowmass scene. She is excited to lead guests (and their own four-legged family members) on daily hikes throughout the Snowmass area. She also enjoys naps in front of the fire, ear scratches, and meeting new friends. This summer, the Limelight Hotel Snowmass features the Limelight Summer Dinner Series, which takes advantage of foods that are at the peak of freshness from local farms. From stone fruits to root vegetables and tomatoes to melons, the once monthly specialty dinners feature a taste of Colorado with an abundance of fresh produce. The Collective Snowmass, the hub for community events in Snowmass, debuts several new offerings for summer 2022. In addition to the return of summer favorites such as Movies Under the Stars, the Snowmass Live Comedy and Music Series, Community Bingo, and Yoga with Aaron King, the new lineup features Aspen Science Center Camps, June 20-24; Live Storytelling with Alya Howe on July 17 & September 25; Paint & Sip art classes with local artist Kelly Peters on July 24 & August 21; a Full Moon Silent Disco on August 12; Open Mic Night on September 7 & September 14; art shows in July & August highlighting array of mediums including photography, sculpture and painting; and Salsa Dancing occurs on select Friday nights. thecollectivesnowmass.com

 

What’s New in the Snowmass Bike Park

The Snowmass Bike Park features more than 25 miles of purpose-built, diverse gravity trails ranging from beginner-friendly and flowing singletrack to dynamic and challenging technical descents—not to mention sweeping mountain views and plenty of options in Snowmass for post-ride refreshments. The lift-access served bike park extends almost 3,000 vertical feet from the top of the Elk Camp Chairlift down to Snowmass Base Village. This summer season marks the completion of the park’s latest trail system buildout project that began in 2017. New this summer, the Squeezy trail (Advanced) is the final trail in the Easy Peasy, Lemon, and Squeezy trail series, a group of short trails which progress from Beginner to Intermediate to Advanced and focus on skill acquisition and refinement for new bikers. With the completion of the Squeezy trail, the Snowmass Bike Park trail staff is excited to welcome a new trail as well as dedicate renewed efforts to updates and maintenance of classic favorite trails like Valhalla, Viking, and Vapor on the upper mountain. www.aspensnowmass.com

 

Snowmass Rec Center Features New Youth Programming

The 18,000-square-feet Snowmass Recreation Center offers unique programming for adults and children, year-round outdoor pools, a state-of-the-art cardio and weight room, an indoor gymnasium, aerobics classes, climbing & bouldering walls, and more. For summer 2022, the Snowmass Rec Center features youth programs including new Basketball Clinics and the Elite Animation Academy, as well as the return of Summer Day Camps, Swim Lessons, and Fencing Camps. Also returning this summer are the Adult Co-Ed Softball, Six A Side Soccer, and Pickleball Ladder Leagues. Getting to the Maroon Bells in Summer 2022

Often referred to as the most photographed peaks in North America, the Maroon Bells are an extraordinary destination not to be missed during a visit to Snowmass. Guests can view the Maroon Bells from the top of the Elk Camp Chairlift, serviced by the Elk Camp Gondola in Snowmass, starting June 21. For the more traditional view, summer 2022 requires advanced reservations for the RFTA shuttle bus from Aspen Highlands (May 27-October 16). Limited day-of tickets may be available. Shuttle tickets for summer 2022 are $16 for adults and $10 for seniors and kids 12 and under. Guests can also drive and park at the Maroon Bells with a parking reservation from May 15-October 31. When the shuttle service is operating, parking reservations are available for evening, whole-day, or overnight. Parking reservations are $10. Returning for summer 2022, private vehicles are allowed to drop off passengers between 6:00am and 8:00am without a parking reservation; however, visitors, backpackers, and hikers who are dropped off during this time will need a one-way ticket to ride the shuttle down to Aspen Highlands after 8:00am.
