Snowmass Tourism Debuts 2024 Summer Event Lineup

Snowmass Rodeo Celebrates 50 Years, New Community Events Debut

Snowmass Village, Colo., (March 21, 2024) – Today, Snowmass Tourism announces the event calendar for the 2024 summer season. The lineup includes new community events, such as Summer Après and Dog Days of Summer, as well as the return of local favorites like Heritage Fire, Snowmass Balloon Festival, Snowmass Wine Festival, Snowmass Free Concert Series, and more. Summer 2024 also celebrates a historic milestone, the 50th anniversary of the Snowmass Rodeo. 

 

“This summer in Snowmass is slated to be a special one,” says Julia Theisen, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “With the return of signature events Snowmass is known for, plus an emphasis on new community events, there will be countless opportunities for locals and visitors to come together to enjoy the beauty and fun of Snowmass.” 

 

Summer 2024 Event Lineup 

The Collective Snowmass – Daily: The Collective Snowmass, the hub for community activity in Snowmass Base Village, features a robust summer lineup of weekly programming. Returning favorites include Community Bingo, Drag Queen Bingo, Salsa Night, Storytelling, Taco Tuesdays, and Chess Night. In addition, complimentary fitness on The Rink and Movies Under the Stars fill out the summer schedule. The Snowmass Live Comedy and Music Series returns on Friday evenings, and the highly successful winter Comedy WKND celebrates its summer debut, July 12-14. In addition, the summer schedule includes private cooking classes at Mawita with James Beard Nominee Mawa McQueen. Outside, the Collective features yard games, splash pads, fountains, and pop-up events on The Rink. Be sure to head downstairs to check out the Selfie Den and the Game Lounge, open daily, 2:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., $10/person for anyone 6 years or older. Ragnar Trail Colorado – June 7-8: Ragnar Trail Colorado returns for its 10th summer in 2024 for a gritty trifecta of the most scenic trail running loops Mother Nature can serve up. Each trail loop begins and ends at Ragnar Village in Snowmass Town Park. Teams of eight run relay style, rotating through three loops, varying from easy to difficult, over a 24-hour period. The race includes costumes, camaraderie, stunning views, and a host of Ragnar community spirit. www.gosnowmass.com/event/ragnar/  

 

Snowmass Rendezvous – June 8: Snowmass Rendezvous returns to Snowmass for its eighth year of libations and fun. From 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. enjoy endless games, bottomless adult beverages, tastings, and live music. Tickets give access to multiple Rendezvous venues around the Village, complete with unlimited wine, beer, and spirit tastings, outdoor gear activations, games, and more. *New – Summer Après – June 12-August 25: From 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. every Wednesday through Sunday, check out live music on the Tower Stage, activities, games, and special experiences throughout Snowmass Village. This new summer series entices locals and guests to stay and play around Snowmass. Snowmass Free Concert Series – June 13-August 22: Celebrating 32 years of free live music this summer, the Snowmass Free Concert Series, a locals’ favorite, long standing summer tradition, returns to Fanny Hill every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m., June 13-August 22. The weekly outdoor series features a spectrum of sounds including country, reggae, rock, funk, bluegrass, and more. Snowmass Tree-O – June 14-15: The Colorado Brewery Running Series, a Denver-based running series, returns to Snowmass for the seventh year of trail running fun. Snowmass Tree-O (formally 5k on the Mountain) moves to June for summer 2024 and consists of 2k, 5k, and 10k trail runs starting and ending on the Snowmass Mall. Runners can race on Friday evening or Saturday morning (or both!). Friday evening features two start waves at 5:00 p.m. (5k) and 6:00 p.m. (2k), and Saturday morning features three start waves at 7:30 a.m. (10k), 9:30 a.m. (5k), or 10:30 a.m. (2k). Each runner receives an event-specific race bib, finisher medal, and finisher beer, plus all runners that complete all three distances get a bonus 17k Challenge medal. www.gosnowmass.com/event/colorado-brewery-running-series/  

 

Snowmass Rodeo – June 19-August 14: The iconic Snowmass Rodeo celebrates its 50th anniversary in Summer 2024. This long-standing Western tradition is a Snowmass summer staple, complete with authentic cowboys and cowgirls competing in all the rodeo classics, including barrel riding, saddle bronc, bull riding, and much more. New for the 50th anniversary season, unique acts debut at each rodeo, while a special evening on July 3rd commemorates 50 years of Snowmass Western Heritage, a 501(c)3 non-profit benefiting scholarships for the rodeo and local community. Also new this summer is the unveiling of the new rodeo arena and grounds. The Snowmass Rodeo takes place on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m., rain or shine. Elk Camp Gondola – June 21: Enjoy a ride on the Elk Camp Gondola in Snowmass! Elk Camp Gondola gives access to the Lost Forest, Elk Camp Restaurant, and Snowmass Bike Park. Use Elk Camp as a base to ride 90+ miles of Snowmass trails, part of the Aspen Snowmass/ Roaring Fork Valley IMBA Gold-Level Ride Center, the only Gold-Level Ride Center in Colorado, only the 5th in United States, and one of only 7 in the world. Snowmass Doubles Volleyball Tournament – June 27-30: Volleyball of the Rockies brings this boutique mountain tournament to Snowmass Village again for summer 2024. VNTRbirds Presents VIDA MTB Series – June 29-30: VNTRbirds (venture birds) encourages women through outdoor education and adventure. Women-run and based in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, VNTRbirds brings women to the outdoors through mountain biking, backcountry skiing, splitboarding and community meet ups. These experiences bring women together and help create more confidence and self-reliance in the outdoors. The VIDA MTB Series, June 29-30, provides women with the opportunity to enhance their riding skills, connect with VNTRbirds coaches, and fully immerse themselves into the nitty-gritty of proper biking technique and the confidence needed to tackle new challenges. Over the course of the weekend, participants are grouped with other ladies of like-minded experience and goals so all can progress together in a comfortable and supportive environment. 4th of July Celebration – July 4: Celebrate Independence Day on Thursday, July 4 in Snowmass! Enjoy a festive evening of free sweet treats, free glow in the dark goodies, and a special Snowmass Free Concert Series performance by the Spazmatics. Snowmass Gran Fondo – July 6: The Aspen Cycling Club hosts their annual noncompetitive Aspen Gran Fondo at Snowmass Town Park on July 6. A Gran Fondo is a long-distance ride traveling up and down the Roaring Fork Valley’s most iconic climbs. Cyclists of all abilities can choose their definition of a long ride: 30, 60, or 100 miles. Anderson Ranch Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic – July 13: An Anderson Ranch tradition for over 40 years, the Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic brings people together for an afternoon of fun and excitement. Silent auctions feature works of art — typically more than 200 — by top contemporary artists and locals alike. Alongside the auctions are engaging art-based activities for all ages, delicious picnic-style food, and live music. The Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic is the culmination event of Recognition Week (kicking off the week of July 8th, with the Recognition Dinner held on Thursday, July 11th). A fundraiser at heart, all proceeds from the day directly benefit Anderson Ranch educational programs. www.andersonranch.org  

 

Snowmass Art Festival – July 13-14: The Snowmass Art Festival is a juried art show featuring original handcrafted artwork. This free two-day event showcases local Colorado and national artists, representing a wide array of mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, glass, wood, and more. Entry to the festival is free, while artwork is individually priced. 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Sunday. www.gosnowmass.com/event/snowmass-art-festival/  

 

Triple Crown World Series – July 17: The Triple Crown World Series returns this summer to the Roaring Fork Valley, giving guests and locals the opportunity to watch the best of youth baseball. Headquartered in Snowmass, the Triple Crown World Series is a Valley-wide sporting event, featuring youth baseball games (9D2, 11D2, 12D2, 14D2) with regional and national attendees. Opening ceremonies take place in Snowmass on July 17, with spectator opportunities available throughout the week. Play takes place on fields in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Basalt, Snowmass Village, and Aspen from July 17-21. www.gosnowmass.com/events 

 

*New – Dog Days of Summer – July 21 & August 25: From 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., bring fido out to Snowmass Base Village for a community dog day. Heritage Fire – July 27: Heritage Fire is a three-hour tasting event that unites live-fire cooking, family farms, and local chefs as part of a 15-city tour. The walk-around reception offers an all-inclusive bacchanal feast featuring thoughtful bites prepared by some of the most critically acclaimed kitchens in each market, utilizing products from locally sourced farms and sponsors. The festivities include fun and interactive activations, as well as the crowning of each city’s Heritage Hero. Plein Air Art Festival – August 10-11: The Plein Air Art Festival returns to Snowmass Village for its third consecutive year, August 5-11. Twenty remarkable artists have been selected to spend four days painting the natural beauty and splendor in and around Snowmass. JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience – August 30-September 1: JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience features three days of world-class performances on multiple stages. 2024 acts include Sting, Brandi Carlile, Tim McGraw, Lukas Nelson, OneRepublic, The Black Crows, Michael Marcagi, and The War and Treaty. www.gosnowmass.com/event/jas-labor-day-experience/  

 

Snowmass Déjà Vu – September 7: This summer, the event organizers behind Snowmass Rendezvous return with Snowmass Déjà Vu, an homage to the classic Snowmass Craft Beer and Chili Pepper & Brew festivals from years past. On September 7 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Denver-based Two Parts hosts a retro-inspired party, complete with free-flowing beers, engaging activations, and plenty more surprises in store. Axes & Arms Walk – September 11: From 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., join local first responders for a walk from Town Park Station to the Top of the Village, 956ft, the highest number of feet that the brave New York first responders walked inside the first tower of the World Trade Center. Following the climb, return to Town Park to enjoy food, drinks, yard games, and more, provided by Roaring Fork Fire Authority. Snowmass Balloon Festival – September 13-15: The Snowmass Balloon Festival celebrates its 49th anniversary in 2024. Snowmass Wine Festival – September 14: Experience an incredible afternoon of wine, food, sights, and sounds at the Snowmass Wine Festival, hosted by the Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. Returning for its 22nd year, the festival features 30+ tables of wine from around the world enjoyed under the tents at Snowmass Town Park on Saturday, September 14. The festival also showcases food from local restaurants, music, and a silent auction to benefit the Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. Festival Del Rancho – September 21: Anderson Ranch Arts Center hosts the fourth annual celebration of Latinx/e and Hispanic culture through art, dance, music, food, and more. Golden Leaf Half Marathon – September 28: Chosen by Trail Runner magazine as one of “America’s 14 Most Scenic Races” this classic trail running race from Snowmass to Aspen is an annual sell out that provides 980’ elevation gain and a 1,712’ descent over its 13.1 miles. www.gosnowmass.com/event/golden-leaf-half-marathon/
