Snowmass 2019 Summer Event Lineup Features Five New Events

Ride the Rockies, Mini Meet, Spartan Snowmass, Rock for a Reason, and National Interscholastic Cycling Association Make Their Debut in Snowmass This Summer

Snowmass Village, Colo., (March 18, 2019) – Today, Snowmass Tourism announces its event lineup for the summer 2019 season, which sees the debut of five new events to the calendar: Ride the Rockies (June 11-12), Rock for a Reason (July 13), Mini Meet (June 24-28), Spartan Snowmass (August 3-4), and National Interscholastic Cycling Association (September 21-22). Returning favorites include Snowmass Rendezvous Craft Beer Festival, Heritage Fire, Yoga on the Mountain, JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, Snowmass Balloon Festival, and many more.

 

In addition to a robust calendar of weekend events, Snowmass features something to do in Snowmass nearly every night of the week with Farm-to-Table Tuesdays at Elk Camp Restaurant (starting in July), the Snowmass Rodeo on Wednesdays (June 12- August 21), the Snowmass Free Concert Series on Thursdays (June 13 – August 22), and Fridays on the Mall on Fridays (June 21-August 23).

 

“Snowmass is the place to be this summer,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “We are constantly looking to enhance our summer experience and this year will be extraordinary with five new events, an additional Thursday concert and great things to do every day of the week.”

 

New Events in Snowmass

 

Ride the Rockies – June 11-12: The annual Denver Post Ride the Rockies celebrates 34 years this summer with an overnight stop in Snowmass Village. The non-competitive event is open to cyclists of all ages and provides riders the chance to experience the stunning vistas and diverse terrain of Colorado. 2019 marks the first time Ride the Rockies has passed through Snowmass in their 34-year history. 

 

Mini Meet – June 24-28: Enjoy a week-long fiesta of Mini Coopers! Mini clubs from East and West converge in Snowmass to showcase all things colorful and Mini. The week includes a car show from 8:00am-1:00pm on Tuesday, June 25 showcasing different varieties of Mini Coopers.

 

Rock for a Reason – July 13: Nonprofits have the opportunity to advocate for their unique causes on the slopes of Fanny Hill. Select non-profits are invited to share their vision with Snowmass community during the Snowmass Free Concert Series bonus Saturday.

 

Spartan Snowmass – August 3-4: Spartan comes to Snowmass for the first time ever in August 2019. Spartan Snowmass features a series of obstacle course races (OCR) testing endurance and abilities of competitors of all ages and skill levels. Participants can choose to compete in one of three distances – 30-mile Ultra, 13-mile Beast, 3-mile Sprint and a kid’s race for youth ages 4-13. The event is based in Snowmass Base Village at the Spartan Base Camp, while obstacles run on Snowmass Ski Area. Friday night features a welcome party for participants and non-participants to enjoy and learn about the races.

 

National Interscholastic Cycling Association – September 21-22: Founded in 2009, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) develops interscholastic mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the country. This summer, the Colorado High School Cycling League hosts cross-country mountain bike races for approximately 600 student athletes from Colorado and New Mexico in Snowmass. Teams are divided into three conferences with eight race categories per day for grades 9-12. Racers will ride 2-4 laps depending on their grade and category. 2019 marks the first time Snowmass has hosted NICA.

 

On-going summer Snowmass events

 

Snowmass Rodeo – June 12-August 21: The Snowmass Rodeo celebrates 46 years of operations this summer, making it one of the longest continuously running rodeos in Colorado. The Snowmass Rodeo takes place on Wednesday at 7:00pm, rain or shine, throughout the summer.

 

Snowmass Free Concert Series – June 13-August 22: On 11 consecutive Thursdays and two bonus Saturdays (June 8 and July 13) throughout the summer, Snowmass hosts a weekly free concert series on Fanny Hill, showcasing genres of music ranging from reggae, to soul, to funk, to rock. 2019 marks the 28th year of the Snowmass Free Concert Series. Band announcements to come.

 

Fridays on the Mall – Fridays, June 21-Augut 23: Kick off the weekend on the Snowmass Mall with music, extended business hours, local artisans, food & drink specials, and more.

 

Farm-to-Table Tuesdays at Elk Camp Restaurant – Starting in July 2019:

Take the Elk Camp Gondola to Elk Camp Restaurant and enjoy an a la cart dinner inspired by the farm-to-table movement with locally sourced ingredients. A full cash bar, plenty of outdoor family activities and live music complete the experience.

Snowmass Rendezvous Craft Beer Festival & Beer Tasting Dinners – June 7-8: Snowmass Rendezvous Craft Beer Festival is the hoppy kick-off to the 2019 summer season. Starting Friday, June 7, guests are welcome to attend a series of Beer Tasting Dinners at restaurants around Snowmass Village, in addition to a new Launch Party, where guests have a chance to meet the brewers with tastings and live music. On Saturday, June 8, guests can indulge in beers from over 30 craft brewers during a three-hour grand tasting event. New this summer, the Snowmass Rendezvous Craft Beer Festival features a VIP tasting, which will showcase select beers not on display at the regular grand tasting, an hour prior to the grand tasting event. The weekend culminates with the first concert of the Snowmass Free Concert series on Fanny Hill that evening.

 

Ragnar Trail Snowmass – June 7-8: The Ragnar Trail Snowmass, a team trail running race descends upon Snowmass Village for the seventh year. Teams rotate through all three loops, ranging from easy to difficult, in a test of endurance and perseverance, culminating at the Ragnar Village finish line in Snowmass Town Park.

 

Rustic Grind / Heritage Fire – June 13 & 15: Complementing the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, Heritage Fire returns on Saturday, June 15 for a slopeside, wood-fired, meat-laden feast. Forty notable chefs and butchers cook up 3,000 pounds of heritage bred animals on the slopes of Fanny Hill, while wineries, breweries, and craft distillers offer drink pairings. Don’t miss Rustic Grind, a precursor to Heritage Fire, on Thursday, June 13, during the Snowmass Free Concert Series.

 

Snowmass Demo Days – June 29-30: Snowmass Demo Days returns to give mountain bike enthusiasts of all ages the opportunity to demo this season’s hottest products over the span of a two-day bike fiesta.

 

The Snowmass Community Celebration & Concert – July 4: Guests and visitors alike are invited to Snowmass to celebrate the evening of the Fourth of July. The event coincides with the Snowmass Free Concert Series, in addition to complimentary lawn games, sweet treats, and more.

 

Yoga on the Mountain – July 19-21: The third annual Yoga on the Mountain, presented by Power Yoga Retreats, returns to Snowmass for a three-day festival celebrating yoga, music, and nature. The weekend schedule includes restorative yoga classes, advanced asana workshops, and focused sessions on mudras, mantras, bandhas and breath work – all mixed with meditation, hiking, and discussions.

 

5K on the Mountain – July 20: The Colorado Brewery Running Series, a Denver based series, returns to Snowmass for the second year of trail running fun. The event consists of a 5k trail run starting and ending on the Snowmass Mall, followed by a post beer party at the New Belgium Ranger Station.

 

Snowmass Doubles Volleyball – July 25-28: Volleyball of the Rockies brings the Snowmass Doubles Volleyball Tournament back to Snowmass again this summer. From the organization that produces some of the largest volleyball tournaments in the state, this boutique mountain tournament features sand and grass courts at Snowmass Town Park. Spectators are welcome.

 

Big Mountain Enduro – August 17-18: This mountain biking event features high altitude riding with big descents in the Snowmass Bike Park and on new trail integrations on Aspen Mountain. Over 2 days, racers tackle 5 to 6 stages, including 12,000 feet of descending and 3,000 feet of climbing. The best in the world come from far and wide to compete on some of the most diverse mountain trails in the region.

 

Yeti Cycles Vida Mtb Series Presented By Shimano – August 17-18:

Yeti Cycles Vida Mtb Series Presented By Shimano is a two-day women’s only mountain bike clinic. The clinic provides women with the opportunity to increase their mountain biking confidence, learn new skills, and to connect with VIDA coaches on proper biking technique. The weekend includes a welcome reception, healthy meals, yoga, bike maintenance classes, happy hour events, and tons of riding. New for 2019, VIDA is partnering with Big Mountain Enduro for their season finale in Snowmass, to culminate the Rider to Racer Program.

 

JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience – August 30-September 1: JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, a world-class music festival, set amidst the stunning backdrop of Snowmass Village, returns to Snowmass Town Park with headliners including Sting, John Mayer, Weezer, Luke Combs, Portugal. The Man, H.E.R., ZZ Ward, and Turkuaz.

 

Snowmass Balloon Festival – September 6-8: The 44th Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival, a long-standing Rocky Mountain tradition, fills the sky with eclectic balloons, as 30 pilots launch their hot air balloons into the air at sunrise. The weekend features three days of festive balloons, pilot games, a night glow, kid’s activities, and more.

 

Septemberfest & Cidermass – September 7: Septemberfest & Cidermass celebrate all things fall in Snowmass Village. Cidermass features hard cider tastings from 25-30 vendors from all over the country on the Snowmass Mall in the morning, while the third annual Septemberfest returns to Base Village in the afternoon with wine and sake tastings, food vendors, children’s activities, music, and more.

 

The Aspen Snowmass Motoring Classic – September 14: Vehicles of all shapes and sizes gather in Snowmass for a supped-up car show on Saturday, September 14, where guests can get up close and personal with cars and drivers. Car clubs in attendance include Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Audi, Corvette, and Viper. New for 2019, the Ducati Club of Denver showcases over 30 types of motorcycles.

 

Snowmass Wine Festival – September 14: A long standing summer tradition, the Snowmass Wine Festival features a weekend of wine tasting and pairing dinners, hosted by Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. Friday evening features a wine-pairing dinner, while the Saturday highlight is a three-hour grand tasting event with wines from all over the world.

 

Golden Leaf Half Marathon Trail Run – September 28: Watch as runners from around the country take to the trails for a 13.1-mile half marathon. Starting in Snowmass Village at 8:30am, runners traverse from Snowmass Village to Aspen, surrounded by the fall colors. The Golden Leaf Half Marathon has been chosen by Trail Runner Magazine as one of “America’s 14 most scenic races”.
