Fall in Love with Snowmass This September

Snowmass Fall Events Feature JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, Snowmass Wine Festival, Snowmass Balloon Festival, and More

Snowmass Village, Colo., (August 29, 2023) – Today, Snowmass Tourism announces the September lineup of events, kicking off with JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, followed by Axes & Arms Walk, Snowmass Wine Festival, the VIDA MTB Series, Snowmass Balloon Festival, and the Golden Leaf Half Marathon. September also continues fun popular events including Music on the Mall, ACES Guided Hikes, The Collective Snowmass programming, and activities at Elk Camp. Yarn Bombing remains a daily activity through September and into October for late season visitors.

“September in Snowmass is truly spectacular,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “A line up of classic events with incredible fall foliage that can be seen from anywhere in the Village. Fall is here and we are ready to welcome it!”

JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience – September 1-3: JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience, a local and guest favorite for many years, features three days of world-class performances on multiple stages. 2023 acts include The Lumineers, Foo Fighters, Old Dominion, Billy Idol, Grace Potter, Brothers Osborne, and James Bay & Jade Jackson. www.gosnowmass.com/event/jas-labor-day-experience/

Axes & Arms Walk – September 11: Join local first responders for a walk from Town Park Station to the Top of the Village, 956ft, the highest number of feet that the brave New York first responders walked inside the first tower of The World Trade Center. The climb, which takes place from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., is free and open to the public; donations to the Axes and Arms Foundation are accepted and appreciated. www.GoSnowmass.com/event/axes-and-arms/

Snowmass Wine Festival – September 16: Experience an incredible afternoon of wine, food, sights, and sounds at the Snowmass Wine Festival, hosted by the Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. Returning for its 21st year, the festival features 30+ tables of wine from around the world enjoyed under the tents at Snowmass Town Park on Saturday, September 16 from 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The festival also showcases food from local restaurants, music, and a silent auction to benefit the Rotary Club of Snowmass Village. Don’t miss a special wine dinner featuring Washington wines on Friday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Viceroy Snowmass. 100% of every dollar benefits local non-profit organizations across the Roaring Fork Valley and charitable organizations worldwide. VNTRbirds presents VIDA MTB Series – September 16-17: VNTRbirds encourage women through outdoor education and adventure. Women-run and based in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, VNTRbirds brings women to the outdoors through mountain biking, backcountry skiing, splitboarding and community meet ups. These experiences bring women together and help create more confidence and self-reliance in the outdoors. The VIDA MTB Series, September 16-17, provides women with the opportunity to enhance their riding skills, connect with VNTRbirds coaches, and fully immerse themselves into the nitty-gritty of proper biking technique and the confidence needed to tackle new challenges. Over the course of the weekend, participants are grouped with other ladies with similar experience and goals so all can progress together in a comfortable and supportive environment. Snowmass Balloon Festival – September 22-24: The Snowmass Balloon Festival celebrates its 48th anniversary in 2023. Golden Leaf Half Marathon – September 23: Chosen by Trail Runner magazine as one of “America’s 14 Most Scenic Races” this classic trail running race from Snowmass to Aspen is an annual sell out that provides 980’ elevation gain and a 1,712’ descent over its 13.1 miles. www.gosnowmass.com/event/golden-leaf-half-marathon/

Reoccurring Summer Events

ACES Guided Hikes – Daily through September 4; weekends only through October 1: Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) returns to Snowmass this summer to lead twice daily hikes. The Nature Trail Hike begins at 10:00 a.m., while the Discovery Trail Hike starts at 1:00 p.m. Hikes are led by a knowledgeable ACES environmentalist and feature history, facts, trivia, flora and fauna, and possible wildlife sightings! Hikes leave from the Snowmass Mall Ticket Pavilion. Daily through September 4, then weekends only, September 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, 30- October 1. www.gosnowmass.com/activity/aces/

Elk Camp Gondola – Daily through September 4; weekends only through October 1: Enjoy a ride on the Elk Camp Gondola in Snowmass! Elk Camp Gondola gives access to the Lost Forest, Elk Camp Restaurant, and Snowmass Bike Park. Use Elk Camp as a base to ride 90+ miles of Snowmass trails, part of the Aspen Snowmass/ Roaring Fork Valley IMBA Gold-Level Ride Center, the only Gold-Level Ride Center in Colorado, one only the five in United States, and one of only seven in the world. Music on the Mall – Fridays through September 29: Every Friday through September 29, Music on Mall returns to Snowmass, featuring live music on the Tower Stage from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Performances feature local Roaring Fork Valley musicians, with highlights including Rob Dasaro, Bonfire, Echo Monday, and Wade Waters. www.gosnowmass.com/events

The Collective Snowmass – Daily: The Collective Snowmass, the hub for community activity in Snowmass Base Village, features a robust summer lineup of weekly programming. Returning favorites include Community Bingo, Salsa, and Chess nights; yoga on The Rink with instructor Aaron King; the Snowmass Live Comedy and Music Series; and Movies Under the Stars. In addition, the summer schedule includes new offerings such as Drag Queen Bingo and cooking classes at Mawita with James Beard Nominee Mawa McQueen. The Collective also features yard games, splash pads, fountains, and pop-up events on The Rink. Yarn Bombing Installation – Daily: Snowmass Tourism debuts a new community-based art project this summer, focused on the art of yarn bombing. Yarn Bombing is the act of wrapping colorful knitted pieces to objects in public spaces for the pure purpose of art and smiles. Trees and other stationary objects around Snowmass Town Park have been selected for coverage in custom knitted and crocheted pieces, culminating in a colorful spectacle of yarn wrapped objects and arbors. Each piece features a tag with the artist’s name and the name of the piece. Visitors to Yarn Bombing are encouraged to park at Snowmass Town Park and wander along the trees and paths surrounding to view the art any time this summer. The trees are located between Brush Creek Road and the Town Park parking lot, from the entrance of the lot to the bike path near the soccer fields. www.gosnowmass.com/activity/yarn-bombing/
