Snowmass Village, Colo., (February 17, 2022) – 40 years of Mardi Gras tradition returns to Snowmass Village on Fat Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Festivities include the culmination of the Mother of All Ascensions Uphill Race, a Bud Light HiFi Concert, the Bead Toss featuring the 2022 Mardi Gras King & Queen Dave and Barb Peckler, and fireworks to close out the evening.

“We are thrilled to have our traditional lineup of Mardi Gras events back in Snowmass this year,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “And it’s a privilege to honor Dave & Barb Peckler and their many years of service at the Town of Snowmass Village and the local community as King & Queen. Plus, the bead toss and fireworks are sure to round out a fantastic and festive day.”

All Hail the Mardi Gras King & Queen

Dave & Barb Peckler met in Snowmass at the Stonebridge Inn in 1982. Dave, a raft guide, approached Barb, who worked at the hotel. It was love at first sight. Since then, the two have made Snowmass and the Roaring Fork Valley their home. Barb has had stints at Alpine Bank and as the director of the Snowmass Snow Bunnies (a former ski school program for 4-5 year old’s), before joining the Town of Snowmass Village 13 years ago as the Court Clerk/Office Manager. Dave quickly transitioned from rafting guide to the Town of Snowmass Village Transportation Department, where he has been for the last 43 years and now serves as Director. Snowmass Tourism is delighted to honor this longstanding Snowmass couple. “We are so proud, and frankly flattered, to be named the 2022 Mardi Gras King and Queen,” says Dave Peckler. “We are so excited to represent Snowmass Village, a place that has been our home for so many years.”
