Long before there were ski lifts, resort hotels and restaurants, Snowmass, Colorado, was full of mastodons—lots of mastodons. Also, mammoths, prehistoric bison, horses, American camels, and giant ground sloths. We know this because in 2010, a construction crew working in Snowmass’ Ziegler Reservoir unearthed a mammoth bone.
