Colorado's Aspen playground is having quite the winter, celebrating the centennial of Bauhaus and welcoming a $600 million new base village in nearby Snowmass, among other things.

Among winter resorts, few rival Aspen for variety. Not just in terms of terrain, though the Aspen Skiing Co. runs four ski mountains around the famed mountain town, including Snowmass, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk in addition to Aspen Mountain.
