Residents and visitors will be able to slip, slide and bump their way around The Rink in Snowmass Base Village with the arrival of 16 ice bumper cars on Dec.18.
The cars, which are propelled via joy sticks (similar to video games), will be available from December 18 to January 2, 2020. The cars will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from 5 to 7 p.m. daily and cost $20 for 10 minutes per rider. Private group reservations will be available between 9 and 11 a.m. daily and cost $400 for 30 minutes for up to 16 riders. Drivers must be above 48″ tall.
Ice Bumper Cars International, based in Steamboat Springs, Colo., designs the cars which are then manufactured in Golden, Colo. The cars are backed with a 24-volt power system that propels two rubber wheels, which helps gain traction on the ice without causing any damage to the ice. To allow for safe bumping, each car has a large inner tube wrapped around the control system where the driver sits and operates the bumper car.
