Running, Biking, Libation & Art Festivities Round Out August Events in Snowmass

Experiences Include Snowmass Rendezvous, 5k on the Mountain, Cidermass, the New Plein Air Art Festival, and More

Snowmass Village, Colo., (July 28, 2022) – August in Snowmass Village sees the debut of a new event while also featuring the return local favorites and summer classics. New to the August event lineup is the Plein Air Art Festival, August 8-14, featuring 18 Colorado artists painting en plein air around the Village with final works for sale at the end of the week. Returning to the August calendar are favorites including 5k on the Mountain, Snowmass’ beer fueled 5k; Audi Snowmass 50 Bike Race, featuring 25 miles of scenic singletrack and 5,000 feet of elevation gain; Aspen Film Drive in Movie, featuring LONG STRANGE TRIP, part of this year’s Summer of Cinema; Cidermass, showcasing hard ciders from around the US; Revolution Enduro Series, highlighting the best of endurance mountain biking; and Snowmass Rendezvous, an afternoon of libations, games, live music, and fun.

“Our August lineup sees a mix of events that showcase what Snowmass is known for – our trails, live music, great food, plus some fun culture thrown in,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “And our ongoing events like the Snowmass Rodeo, Snowmass Concert Series, Sunset Tuesdays, etc. continue through the end of August. August 2022 Event Lineup

5k on the Mountain – August 5-6: The Colorado Brewery Running Series, a Denver based running series, returns to Snowmass for the fifth year of trail running fun. Coinciding with International Beer Day (August 5), the run consists of a 5k trail run starting and ending on the Snowmass Mall. This year runners have the option to race either Friday evening or Saturday morning (or both!). Pick a start time at either 6:00pm or 6:30pm on Friday and 10:00am or 10:30am on Saturday. www.gosnowmass.com/event/colorado-brewery-running-series/

Audi Snowmass 50 Bike Race – August 6: Aspen Snowmass hosts the Audi Snowmass 50 Bike Race on Saturday, August 6, featuring 25 miles and 5,000 feet of elevation gain on some of the best singletrack mountain bike trails in Colorado. Divisions are broken into 50-mile solo racer (two loops), 25-mile solo racer (one loop) and 50-mile teams of two where each rider completes one 25-mile lap. Aspen Film Drive in Movie – August 7: For this year’s Summer of Cinema, Aspen Film in conjunction with Snowmass, is excited to present an experiential drive-in screening of Amir Bar-Lev’s revered documentary LONG STRANGE TRIP at Snowmass Town Park. This groundbreaking 2017 documentary defines one of the most beloved bands of the century, the Grateful Dead. Honoring ‘The Days Between’ lead singer Jerry Garcia’s birth and death, the drive-in takes place on Sunday, August 7 at 8:00pm. Gates open at 6:30pm. Food is available for purchase from Chamo’s and The Dreamery food trucks from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Guests are welcome to bring in their own food and beverages, but no alcohol is permitted. *New – Plein Air Art Festival – August 8-14: Summer 2022 sees the debut of the first ever Plein Air Art Festival in Snowmass Village, CO. From August 8-14, 18Colorado artists descend on Snowmass to spend four days painting the natural beauty and splendor of the surrounding landscape. On August 13 and 14, guests and locals are invited to Snowmass Base Village to view the artwork and purchase their favorite pieces to take home. www.gosnowmass.com/event/plein-air-art-festival/2022-08-13/   

Cidermass – August 20: Cidermass returns to the Snowmass Mall this summer on August 20 from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Cidermass features hard cider and distillery tastings from 25 vendors from all over the country including Shilling, Talbots, Colorado Cider Company, 10th Mountain Distilling, Marble Distilling, and more. www.gosnowmass.com/event/cidermass     

Revolution Enduro Series – August 20-21: The last stop on this mountain biking tour, Revolution Enduro offers racers the chance to compete on a mix of lift-served and backcountry trails. All races are professionally timed and include prizes, swag, beverages, and more. Snowmass Rendezvous – August 27: Snowmass Rendezvous returns to Snowmass for a day of libations and fun. Expect endless exploration, games, beverages, tastings, and live music. The event launches on Friday night with a welcome party in Snowmass Base Village featuring live music, cold craft beverages, and tastings from local brands, while Saturday, August 27, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm is the main event. Tickets give access to multiple Rendezvous venues around the Village, complete with unlimited wine, beer, and spirit tastings, outdoor gear activations, live music, games, and more. August 2022 Activations & Ongoing Activities

Sunset Tuesdays at Elk Camp & Bonus Bike Nights – through August 9: Sunset Tuesdays are back at Elk Camp this summer with Elk Camp Restaurant, Snowmass Bike Park, and Lost Forest, hosting extended hours on Tuesday evenings through August 9. The experience includes a complimentary ride up the Elk Camp Gondola starting at 5:00pm to the restaurant where guests can enjoy locally-sourced ingredients in a farm-to-table inspired à la carte dinner with full cash bar, outdoor family activities and live music on the deck. In conjunction with Sunset Tuesdays at Elk Camp restaurant, the Snowmass Bike Park hosts Bonus Bike Nights on Tuesdays, staying open until dusk every Tuesday through August 9. Snowmass Rodeo – through August 17: The Snowmass Rodeo celebrates 48 years of operations this summer. This long-standing Western tradition is a Snowmass summer staple, complete with music, cowboys and cowgirls, horses, livestock, and family fun. The Snowmass Rodeo takes place on Wednesdays at 7:00pm, rain or shine. www.SnowmassRodeo.org

Movies Under the Stars – through August 20: Returning for the fourth summer, Movies Under the Stars, presented by The Collective Snowmass in partnership with Aspen Film and Adventure Entertainment, continues the dusk movie tradition in Snowmass Base Village on most Saturday evenings in July and August. Gather family and friends, pack a picnic, and enjoy movie screenings at dusk, hosted by The Collective Snowmass. Viewers are encouraged to bring blankets or low-profile chairs, a picnic, and non-alcoholic beverages. www.TheCollectiveSnowmass.com. 

Snowmass Free Concert Series: 30 Years of Music – through August 25: Celebrating 30 years of free live music this summer, the Snowmass Free Concert Series, a local’s favorite, long standing summer tradition, returns to Fanny Hill every Thursday evening at 6:30pm through August 25. The weekly outdoor series features a spectrum of sounds including soul, pop, funk, rock & roll, country, bluegrass, and folk, with special nods to Fanny Hill concert’s past. Additionally, Snowmass is home to free live music throughout the season on Fanny Hill and at restaurants and venues around Snowmass Village, including a bonus concert on Fanny Hill on August 27, part of Snowmass Rendezvous.  www.gosnowmass.com/events/snowmass-free-concerts/.

 

ACES Guided Hikes – through September 5: This summer, join a Naturalist from Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) for a free, guided hike amongst the flowers and fields of Snowmass. Guests can choose to join the Wildflower Walk, which takes place daily at 10:00am on the Nature Trail, or the Ice Age Discovery Hike at 1:00pm daily on the Discovery Trail. Both hikes feature facts, tips, and trivia from a knowledgeable ACES Naturalist, as well as the chance to explore and get to know the flora and fauna of Snowmass. Snowmass Art Walk – Any Time: The Snowmass Art Walk showcases the work of local Roaring Fork Valley artists with Village-wide outdoor art installations including murals and sculptures that complement the beauty of Snowmass. Installations are spread out around the Snowmass Mall, Snowmass Base Village, the Brush Creek Trail, and Anderson Ranch Arts Center, featuring all 2021 art pieces, as well as expanding to include all major art in the Village. The Collective Snowmass – Any Time: The Collective Snowmass, the hub for community activity in Snowmass Base Village, features a robust summer lineup of weekly programming including chess club, comedy nights, bingo nights, art shows, and yoga with King Yoga. The Collective also features yard games, splash pads, fountains, and pop-up events. Be sure to head downstairs to check out the Selfie Den and the Game Lounge, free from 2:00pm-4:00pm, $10/person for anyone 6 years or older from 4:00pm-close.
