Snowmass Village, Colo., (May 28, 2024) – Summer in Snowmass kicks off this June with favorite events including Snowmass Rendezvous, Ice Age Discovery Days, Snowmass Tree-O, and more. June is also the start of summer long events including the Snowmass Rodeo, which celebrates 50 years this summer, the Snowmass Free Concert Series, the new Summer Après series, ACES Guided Hikes, and more.

Ragnar Trail Colorado – June 7-8: Ragnar Trail Colorado returns for a gritty trifecta of the most scenic trail running loops Mother Nature can serve up. Each trail loop begins and ends at Ragnar Village in Snowmass Town Park. Teams of eight run relay style, rotating through three loops, varying from easy to difficult, over a 24-hour period. *New – Summer Après – June 7-September 29: Summer Après in Snowmass is the ultimate destination for live outdoor music, games, and community gatherings. Every Wednesday through Sunday, check out live music on the Tower Stage, activities, games, and special experiences throughout Snowmass Village. This new summer series entices locals and guests to stay and play around Snowmass. Music on the Mall takes place on the Tower Stage from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, starting June 7 – September 27, while Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 26-August 15 features performances from the Aspen Music Festival & School. June 21-August 23 features Corn Hole Fridays, a competitive, tournament style corn hole competition from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Rock Garden, located at the top of the Skittles/Sky Cab Gondola. Compete for custom Snowmass swag and prizes! Snowmass Rendezvous – June 8: Snowmass Rendezvous returns to Snowmass for its eighth year of libations and fun. From 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. enjoy endless games, bottomless adult beverages, tastings, and live music by DJ Leah Fossum and DJ Romy Ancona. Tickets provide access to multiple Rendezvous venues around the Village, complete with unlimited wine, beer, and spirit tastings, outdoor gear activations, games, and more. Snowmass Free Concert Series – June 13-August 22: Celebrating 32 years of free live music this summer, the Snowmass Free Concert Series, a locals’ favorite and long standing summer tradition, returns to Fanny Hill every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m., June 13-August 22. The weekly outdoor series features a spectrum of sounds including country, reggae, rock, funk, bluegrass, and more. Snowmass Ice Age Discovery Explorer Tours – Fridays, starting June 14: Did you know Snowmass is the site of the finest ice age fossil discovery in the world? Learn the full story of this remarkable discovery from an Aspen Science Center educator. Every Friday at 3:30 p.m., meet in the Limelight Snowmass lobby to learn about the mammoths and mastodons who used to live in Snowmass, and see replicas of Ice Age animal bones, teeth, tusks and more. Then, follow along on a guided Ice Age Passport Walk through Base Village and the Snowmass Mall to see art inspired by the discovery and earn an Ice Age prize! Snowmass Tree-O – June 14-15: The Colorado Brewery Running Series, a Denver-based running series, returns to Snowmass for the seventh year of trail running fun. Snowmass Tree-O (formally 5k on the Mountain) moves to June for summer 2024 and consists of 2k, 5k, and 10k trail runs starting and ending on the Snowmass Mall. Runners can race on Friday evening or Saturday morning (or both!). Friday evening features two start waves at 5:00 p.m. (5k) and 6:00 p.m. (2k), and Saturday morning features three start waves at 7:30 a.m. (10k), 9:30 a.m. (5k), or 10:30 a.m. (2k). ACES Guided Hikes – Daily, starting June 15: Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) returns to Snowmass this summer to lead twice daily hikes. The Snowmass Wildflower Walk begins at 10:00 a.m., on the Nature Trail, while the Ice Age Discovery Walk starts at 1:00 p.m. on the Discovery Trail. Hikes are led by a knowledgeable ACES environmentalist and feature history, facts, trivia, flora and fauna, and possible wildlife sightings. Hikes leave from the Snowmass Mall Ticket Pavilion. Snowmass Rodeo – June 19-August 21: The iconic Snowmass Rodeo celebrates its 50th anniversary this summer. This long-standing Western tradition is a Snowmass summer staple, complete with authentic cowboys and cowgirls competing in all the rodeo classics, including barrel riding, saddle bronc, bull riding, and much more. New for the 50th anniversary season, unique acts debut at each rodeo, commemorating 50 years of Snowmass Western Heritage, a 501(c)3 non-profit benefiting scholarships for the rodeo and local community. Also new this summer is the completion of Snowmass Town Park, a multi-year, $6.5 million beautification project featuring new landscaping, parking lot flow, and grounds for the Snowmass Rodeo. The Snowmass Rodeo takes place on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m., rain or shine. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for a BBQ Dinner and activities. Elk Camp Gondola – June 21: Enjoy a ride on the Elk Camp Gondola in Snowmass! Elk Camp Gondola gives access to the Lost Forest, Elk Camp Restaurant, and Snowmass Bike Park. Use Elk Camp as a base to ride 90+ miles of Snowmass trails, part of the Aspen Snowmass/ Roaring Fork Valley IMBA Gold-Level Ride Center, the only Gold-Level Ride Center in Colorado, only the 5th in United States, and one of only 7 in the world. Ice Age Discovery Days – June 21-22: Celebrate an exciting piece of Snowmass history! In 2010, a bulldozer thumped into the tusk of a prehistoric mammoth at Ziegler Reservoir. Hundreds of scientists and local volunteers gathered in Snowmass to unearth thousands of fossils of Ice Age plants and animals, including mastodons, mammoths and giant ground sloths. This weekend celebration brings the Ice Age Discovery to life through art and science. Friday, June 21 features a scientific lecture at the Snowmass Chapel. Learn about the discoveries made at the 2010 dig from the scientists who were there and the experts who continue to study the ice age. Speakers include Dr. Ian Miller, Chief Science Officer for National Geographic, and lead paleobotanist on the 2010 dig, Dr. Gussie Maccracken, Assistant Curator of Paleobotany for Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and intern on the 2010 dig, and David Heil, president of Aspen Science Center and Emmy-award winning former host of PBS series, Newton’s Apple. Saturday, June 22 is a Community Celebration in Snowmass Base Village from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. featuring free fun for the whole family! Snowmass Doubles Volleyball Tournament – June 27-30: Volleyball of the Rockies brings this boutique mountain tournament to Snowmass Village again for summer 2024. VNTRbirds Presents VIDA MTB Series – June 29-30: VNTRbirds (venture birds) encourages women through outdoor education and adventure. Women-run and based in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, VNTRbirds brings women to the outdoors through mountain biking, backcountry skiing, splitboarding, and community meet ups. These experiences bring women together and help create more confidence and self-reliance in the outdoors. The VIDA MTB Series, June 29-30, gives women with the opportunity to enhance their riding skills, connect with VNTRbirds coaches, fully immerse themselves in proper biking technique, and provides the confidence needed to tackle new challenges. Over the course of the weekend, participants are grouped with other ladies of similar experience and goals so all can progress together in a comfortable and supportive environment.
